Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Just like everyone else, I too was ripped off by John Beck's program. I followed advice from this site and filed with the Utah Consumer Affairs. Is there anything else I can do? It's been three weeks and I can't seem to get through to my case worker.

I am asking for a full refund.

Thanks again.

I am sorry about all you have have gone through. but I just bought the kit and was going to do this. I just decided to do a little research first. I lost a 1,000 through one of these programs 6-7yrs ago and I did not want to charge my CC when I am going to make payment even for a month.anyways my price was 6500 when I told them I could not do it it went down to 4500 and I was still thinking about it. I ask the guy today if they were a member of the BBB and he brush off the question. I did a search last night and could not find them anywhere in Utha. I found MOA with no address and phone number I thought that was suspicious. I ask them for the name of the company and I was told it is under JB. JB marketing director supposely talked to me and told me if I went to google I will find all I needed. lo and behold I found all of you story and they sure will not get my money. God Bless you all and the ones who are still waiting to get a refund good Luck.

Congratulations Scott! Get this though. Another person who I had also guided via phone and emails just informed me of their $9,500.00 refund also! Nice one-two punch combination delivered to MOA. Scott I am happy to now add your refund to my Mentoring of America refund revenge tally. I'm telling you folks, all that BS their people tell you that you can't get a refund no matter what, offering only partial refunds, that they will see you in court, that you have already taken their coaching and cannot get a refund no matter what, that they have you recorded on tape, etc is all BS. It's all an attempt to deter you and drag this process out to the point that you might simply throw your hands in the air and quit. DON'T QUIT. Scott, now call KAREN and see what she has to say now that you DID get your money back after she told you that you otherwise. Scott, you should shove your victory all over that Karen lady's face and see what she has to say now. NEW MENTORING OF AMERICA KNOWN REFUND TOTAL SINCE LAST SIX MONTHS USING MY SUGGESTIONS: I myself got back a full $7,000 plus refund. Lloyd from Minnesota got a $9,700 refund. Jeff from Mass. got a full $6,499 refund. Alexis from Florida got a full $7,485 refund. Kingcia from Florida got a full $14,695 refund. Person who I guided via phone/email got $9,500. Scott from Florida gets full $7,499 refund. TOTAL IS: $62,403.00 There will be more to come. Post a response so that I can add you too to my list. And this total is only the KNOWN refunds within the last six months. You know there has got to be more refunds from those people who read this site and the suggestion but never post anything that we don't see and/or know about. To the rest of you reading and fighting MOA for your money back, let all of the above refund recipients be proof that you too can do the same if you just follow what we have done just like Scott just did. Go back and read the above people's complaint pages. This is my revenge to Mentoring of America LLC. It goes to show you that if you stiff the wrong customer it can come back to cost you much much more. JAYDER SALAZAR of Mentoring of America LLC, I'm still looking for you.

It's hard to believe, but I recieved a call from the Fla. Attorney General's office saying M of A wanted to give me a full refund. Yahoooo! I signed the papers and in a few days I had my refund. Thanks to all who gave advice and said to keep fighting. There is justice after all.

I'm still fighting. Since my last report, I have filed complaints with the AG in California and Florida. California just responded that they are not going to do anything after hearing the lies from JB. JB used a form letter to the AG and just filled in my name. They obviously have so many complaints that they need a form letter. JB offered a 50% refund which I have refused. Still waiting for Florida's response. If negative, then it will look like I will have to get a lawyer.

First, Jack, did you live in UT at the time, did you answer an ad in the local paper? Second, everyone else: If I signed the contract, should I send that to Ao, or should I try to get another one "for my records" from MoA, and then send the blank one if they do not have the one I sent to them. Thanks to all.

I highly suggest you folks put a tracking number/ delivery confirmation number when sending back anything to Mentoring of America. In fact, this is mandatory with this company. This will give you proof that Mentoring of America has indeed received what you sent them, in the even they say otherwise and your not seeing your refund go through. I WON'T BE ON THIS SITE MUCH LONGER: I've been posting a lot here about Beck and Mentoring of America based on my personal successul full $7,000 plus refund since late July - early August this year for about 3 months now. I am happy to say that I have personally been able to contribute to over $30,000 in Mentoring of America refunds in the last 3 months for people like Lloyd, Alexis, Jeff, and counting myself also. This has given me closure and revenge at the same time. I won't be on this site much longer though. I'm going to completely put this behind me as a big lesson learned, and I probably won't post here again. Be well.

I did sighn the contract and sent it to them, however they did not seem to have record of getting it. I have read just about everything I could find on here and it has been informative. Is it wise to email John Beck directly and tell him I am going to file a report with all the people I've seen to file with on this site, or just cut off contact? I recently sent an email to him, Steven Smith, and my "coach" Alan Branch, trying once again to get a response, was this an error? Also, I have written down most but not all details of conversations with the people I have talked to, will that help? Any response will be helpfull, I spent $4460, am awaiting a $1000 partial refund, and another $500 refund in which they attempted to word as "full refund" are chances reasonable I could get the other $2960 refunded. Can I try to get more money for the amount of time I have put into my efforts of this, as I highly value my time. James - Akron, OH

I find it hard to beleive that John Beck, an attorney himself is not aware of the fradulent business practices of Mentoring of America LLC. John Beck has been selling his materials on TV infomercials since the early 90's. Even the recent lawsuits in Utah against Mentoring of America have been on the local news. How could John Beck possibly be oblivious to all of this? For a link to this news coverage see some of my other responses on other complaints against Mentoring of America. Be well.

They are betting that you are just going to throw in the towel, quit, give up, simply and take what they hand you and get lost.

The fact that she jumps the price from $6,250 to $7,250 by a thousand proves that they are full of it and can issue a full refund, but they just want to keep some of your money anyway. They are betting that you are just going to throw in the towel, quit, give up, simply and take what they hand you and get lost. I personally would make them send me a hand signed refund agreement that says a $7,250 refund has been authorized at least to back up her words. Then I would not sign it, I would keep it for back up, and I would keep fighting for a FULL refund. I would pay a local attorney $150 to write up and send Mentoring of America a hand written letter like this person here did to get them to comply to a full refund: www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff151094.htm These scumbags don't deserve to hold on to any of your money. You know it and they know it. If the have given me and the rest of the people on this site a full refund, who by the way bought the same program and went throught the same sales process, then they sure as hell can give you one too. They are full of it. But if you are willing to let them get away with about $5,000 of your cash that's your business. Do what you want. #21Consumer Comment

Mon, November 27, 2006

After Ao had basically told me the same thing that Scott was told, that there really isn't much more to do or say because it's their word against ours, I received another phone call from Karen. She told me the same thing that she could get me a partial refund of 6,250. I sat and tried to reason with her but she said that at the most if we returned all the materials that we could get it to about 7250. To me that's better than nothing. I received the letter a couple of days ago that I need to sign and return. I'm thinking i'm going to go ahead and do that. A $5,250 experience is a lot easier to handle than the initial $12,500. Let me know what you think. I think I might just go with that. Either way I have to thank you again Anonymous because thats a lot more that nothing.

I'm sorry to say I worked for this company. I didn't last long because I wouldn't use the selling methods they wanted me to. What you need to know is that they subcontract the selling from John Beck (and others) THEY NEED TO KEEP THE COMPLAINTS DOWN AT THEIR LEVEL. If John Beck begins to be hurt or believes his reputation is being hurt by the practices of this small company, he will switch to a hundred others, and MOA knows that.So complain to John Beck. Tell MOA that you will complain to HIM...AND...to the BBB, Attorny Gen.,Utah Consumer Agency,Utah State Financial Agency(I Don't know if that's the right name)and any other agency I could find....and you will not give up until you see a just outcome. Then try to send as many complains AT THE SAME TIME as you can. What a difference it makes when 5 or 6 Agency complaints hit the same desk within 2 or 3 days of each other! What a headache! It's easier to just refund the money! But what will really talk to them is risking cutting off their MONEY...Thats JOHN BECK...He needs to know what kind of company he's doing business with. Even better if you can get several people to write complaints at the same time. Stay respectful. DON'T GIVE UP! Good Luck.

Good Luck.

Ao Pauga sent me a letter saying there is no more that he can do

#27Author of original report

Ao Pauga sent me a letter saying it was their word against mine, and that there is nothing else that he can do. He suggested small claims or hire an attorney. He said to get back to him if I can show him where they broke Nevada Law. I'm trying to put together some ammunition. Does anyone else have anything that can help? I also received a phone message from Karen, saying she will offer a refund of $2-3,000. This was in response to the BBB complaint. I have also filed with the FTC. It's beginning to sound like that refund offer might be the best I can get. Any thoughts? Many Thanks.

That is interesting. Everything I have read online durring my past research says that verbal agreements and verbal contracts that are done over the telephone are not supposed to be considered valid in many states, including Utah. Only hand signed agreements and contracts in writing and with the full tems and conditions oulined count. That's why Mentoring of America sends people these "Enrollment Confirmation" pages and asks you to hand sign and return it right back to them. Even on that there is no mention of a no-refund policy anywhere what so ever. And on top of that, Alexis, Jeff, Loyd, and myself went through the same exact sales process and we got refunded. Why are you any different? Perhaps they have seen a recent flood of complaint filed against them from readers of this site and are trying to put up a fight. Indeed, they do not record the sales pitch their seller gave you to get you to sign up. This allows their sales people to lie as much as needed and give you what ever fake guarantee or promise they want to enroll you. And if you yourself did not record it, they will deny everything, then you can't prove it. They only begin to record when it benefits them right at closing, and they leave everything else anyone told, guarenteed, or promised you out on purpose. It sickes me to think back of 2 1/2 years ago when I went through this exact process with the lowly JAYDER SALAZAR. Now that I get to thinking, durring the time their sales closer was recording my verbal agreement over the phone while JAYDER SALAZAR listed quietly in the background, I raised questions about the no-refund/all sales final policy when it was mentioned to me. I told the sales closer to hold on right there just a minute because JAYDER SALAZAR here had just given me a 100% money back guarantee, and now you're telling me there is no refund and all sales are final. At which point the lowly JAYDER SALAZAR immediately jumped back into the conversation and totally slicked and sugar coated everything over and just told me go ahead and agree anyway. And like an idiot I did. He said "don't worry about it, no one has ever needed a refund. You can't fail in this program. You have nothing to worry about." So that must have completely ruined their recording and that's probably why for me Mentoring of America did not put up a fight after Ao Pauga gave them my complaint. That or they no longer had my recording. They just sent me my hand signed full refund check for over $7,000 no questons asked overnight FedEx delivery and gave me a tracking number for it. Here's what gets me about your situation. Why are they agreeing to refunds for some and not for others when all of us went through the same exact sales process? Why is a verbal agreement that was done over the phone beeing honored here? No where on their Enrollment Confirmation pages do they mention any no-refund policies. Mentoring of America has nothing in writing with your signature on it agreeing to a no-refund policy other than a stupid telephone recording. Do they even really have this recording Lorin? I've read numeorus complaints where people have demanded to be played back this recording that supposedly has them agreeing to their terms, and always Mentoring of America came up with excuses as to why they can't let you heat it, but they insist they have it nonetheless. At this point, if you have not already done it, file additional complaints against Mentoring of America's main corporate office with the BBB(BBB.com), the Federal Trade Commission(FTC.GOV), and the U.S Securities and the Exchange Commission (SEC.GOV).

Refund Denied

#29Consumer Comment

Tue, November 21, 2006

Well I just got the bad news. Al called me today for an update on my refund. I am the one that spent $12,500 for this stupid thing. He told me that they have the recording of me agreeing to their terms and that it says I have a three day right for a refund. He said that I also agreed that the sales presentation was good or something like that also. I told him well of course I said that because they filled me full of all their lies about this 60 to 90 days guaranteed money back. He said that they had nothing like that on the recording and if I would have said something of that nature that we would have more against them. Seriously what a rip-off. They have everything in recorded that benefits them and they only start the recording after they lie and lie to get you to fall into the trap. I don't know what to do now. Any suggestions or am i S.O.L.

I also got a phone called or actually they called my wife's phone and my wife talked with the lady and she asked why we were requesting a full refund and we explain because of the false money back guarantee and the rediculous coaching and everything else and she told us to that there is no way that whe would give us a full refund becuase we had nine of our ten coaching sessions. My wife sat and argued on the phone with her for about twenty minutes and the lady finally said that she would call us back once she had talked to her supervisor. She never did call back and that was over a week ago.

I paid $7,499

#31Author of original report

Sat, October 28, 2006

I paid $7,499 and was told when I signed up that I would make my money back in the first month. I was also told that they would guarantee my money back if I didn't get the results promised. Of course, this is not in writing. Unfortunately, I did sign the "enrollment Confirmation" form and returned it. I sent My copy of the form (which is not signed) to Ao Pauga along with my complaint. The enrollment form showed my method of payment, the last four digits of my credit card, expiration date and the amount. I will ask Ao if he wants it when I talk to him. I have left messages and hope to talk to him real soon. Also I did file with the BBB, but have not heard anything from them. I really appreciate all your help. Thank you.

I too had a lady call me from the "Office of John Beck" in regards to my complaint filed against them. I don't remember her name. It was actually for the BBB complaint I also filed in addition to the Utah complaint, and she wanted to know how she could help me. I explained to her my complaint in detail about the garbage coaching program, and told her I wanted all my $7,000 plus back that Mentoring of America cheated me out of. I explained to her the fake money back guarentee one of their lowly employees gave me in order to get me to sign up, ect. She listened to what I had to say, but never said anything only that she was going to go ahead and submit this to a supervisor, and that was the end of the call. The #$%#$ never submitted anything to anybody. I just took it directly with Ao.

Did you include all the proper documentation with your Utah consumer complaint form?

#33Consumer Suggestion

Fri, October 27, 2006

Did you include a copy of your credit card/bank account statements with the price charged for the Mentoring of America coaching highlighted with your complaint to Ao? Have you filed additional complaints against Mentoting of America's main corporate office with the BBB? If not, you need to file as many complaints against them as you can. When you do, Mentoring of America gets notification of complaints filed against them, and they will see that you are filing multiple complaints with various agencies against them. Mentoring of America LLC 752 East 1180 South Suite #200 American Fork, Utah 84003 Phone: 877-704-6346 Finaly, hava a tape recorder connected to your telephone ready to go, and tape record any future conversations with any Mentoring of America's people like Karen who might call you.

Tell Ao Pauga about this conversation with Karen. Also, I have some questions for you Scott.

#34Consumer Suggestion

Fri, October 27, 2006

These people make me sick. Obvisouly Karen is not a supervior there. The two people who hand signed my refund agreement and refund check where: Kasi Minter- Supervisor and Henry Brazil- Customer Service Manager I personally would not have any further contact with any of their people. Speak to Ao Pagua about your conversation with Karen. See if Ao can contact that "supervisor" directly for you. Karen is not going to do a d**n thing. Now Scott, you never said much about your particular situation, how much you paid, who was your coach, who have you spoken with, when this happened, ect. Ao needs to know about any fake money back guarantees if he doesn't already. Question for you Scott about something you never mentioned to us: Did you sign and return that "Enrollment Confirmation" page that Mentoring of America should have sent you when you signed up for this? It's a sheet of paper that shows how many 30 minute calls you are getting, the price, and your method of payment, along with Mentoring of America's logo at the top. If you did not, Mentoring of America has nothing in writing with your signature on this. Where you given any type of money back guarentee by the sleazy saleman who signed you up for this in the fist place, like they did me and many others here on this site? No where on that "Enrollment Confirmation" page does it ever say that you cannot get a refund nor does it specify or explain any no-refund policy even if you did sign and return it back to Mentoring of America. I still have my unsigned orginal so I know this for a fact. And remember, verbal agreements and verbal contracts done over the phone don't count and are not considered valid in Utah. That's why Mentoring of America sends people these "Enrollment Confirmation" pages in the mail telling them to sign and return back to them. So if Mentoring of America tells you that they have you recorded on tape agreeing to their terms and a no-refund policy, don't pay attention to that nonsense. I will await you respose to the above questions.

Received call from John Beck's office

Thu, October 26, 2006

Received a call from a lady named Karen. She asked what I wanted in regards to the complaint, which is a full refund. She said she would not give it because I completed the program. After explaining all the false advertising, false coaching, etc., she said she would have to take this to her supervisor. What now? She was going to offer a partial refund, but I said I would not accept anything less than a full refund. Looks like this is going to be a fight. Any advice?

Latest on my case - still waiting

#38Author of original report

Tue, October 24, 2006

Just recently spoke to Ao Pauga regarding my case. He mentioned that John Beck's customer service has moved to California. They told him that's so they can give better service to their clients. HAH! I asked him if it was so they could get out of his jurisdiction, of which he had no answer. Anyway, they had conviently mis-placed my complaint with about 10 others. Mr. Pauga re-sent the complaints and he did confirm that they received them. Mr. Pauga was speaking to Michael O'Connel. I tried calling Michael...left a voice mail and have yet to receive a call back. At this point, I am still waiting. I will wait a few more days and then call Ao again to see if he has heard anything. I'll keep everyone posted as to what happens.

Scott, You've done the right things so far. Investigator Ao Paugo is probably sick and tired of hearing about mentoring of america and John Beck right about now, and as far as I'm concerned, THATS A GOOD THING! Basically, he'll take care of you. If not for the efforts and advice of "Anonymous in Southern California," I would not have gotten my refund. The Investigator from the Utah Department of Consumer Protection is working on your case Im sure. You may already have a refund and not even know it. Mine came on my credit card that I used to pay for the program with and I didn't realize that the refund had come until the end of the month when my statement came in. I had received the refund without even returning the material. The Investigator will probably just tell you to return the items and stand by for the refund. If you used your bank account to pay for the program, and if that bank account is now closed, MAKE SURE that Mentoring of AMerica sends you a bank check as a refund. If you used a credit card, they will refund the credit card. DO NOT allow them to tell you that they will send the refund to your bank or credit card company if either of those accounts are now closed, because they may try to convince you of this. My advice to you is to not have any contact with John Beck's people or anyone from mentoring of america. Just stand by for your check or your bank/credit card refund. (Thanx Anonymous!)

Hello Scott

#45Consumer Suggestion

Thu, September 14, 2006

Scott, I can't really tell you if there is anything more you need to do since I don't know what else you have already done along with your complaint. Did you sent copies of your bank statements and/or enrollment confirmation? As long as you followed what I have been saying all along about the Utah Division of Consumer Protection on this site, you should be good to go. File a BBB complaint against John Beck and another against Mentoring of America, if you have not done so. Do not worry if you can't reach the investigator, or if he does not return your calls. I too had some difficulty reaching him. And he never called me back on two messeges I left. I understood that they are busy in that office. This in NO WAY means your complaint is not being looked at or processed. Before I knew anything, out of nowhere I received a hand signed refund agreement overnight Fed Ex delivery directly from Mentoring of America. About 3-4 weeks after I mailed out the complaint form to Utah. The investigator just went to action, he never called me and let me know or anything. He just went to work. No talk, just action. At this point, I would just sit back and wait for something in the mail from Mentoring of America LLC. Give it a few more weeks and then contact the Mr. Ao Pauga at the Utah Divison with a follow up if you have not received anything in the mail at this point.
