"I took it to Microcenter and they cleaned the FAN. The FAN is hardware. There is no ambiguity here. The FAN is not software. Software does not cause overheating. Overheating is a hardware problem." Dirt on the fan is not a defective fan but a routine maintenance issue. It is a good idea for the consumer to perform preventative maintenance such as blowing out fan on computers from time to time. That is why Microcenter has a section of canned air for sale. Nothing in the laptop was defective. To claim that Microcenter will not honor the warranty on an obviously defective screen because of the previous claim is not a correct. I am guessing that after comparing what it would cost you to have the screen replaced by your other company that you decided to have the warranty work done after all, which would be the proper thing to do.
