On 5/28/07. I took my car in for an oil changed at Monro Muffler Brake at 8811 Brier Creek Parkway, Raleigh, NC 27617. 919-806-3493 this is the 3rd times that I took the car in for oil change. But this time I was charged with a $29 oil changed bill. Previously, I paid $21.

What the manager Mike Haller told me was that since the filter is not in stock. They have to get it somewhere else and I have to pay for it. Even though he made no mention of it when I took the car in, he told me that Its not his problem that the inventory is not correct, he forcefully points out that its a waste of time to check the inventory, it slows his crew down, it still took 1.5 hours for my oil change.

He got the nerve and demanded that I paid the bill or else hell just put my old oil filter and the old oil back in. I had to argue with him until another customer came in. His tone sure changed fast. I was amaze that he try to slam me with additional extra charges too. $2.25 recycle fee, $3 for extra qt oil, $2.16 shop fee $3.00 for oil filter. I could have got the oil change done at the dealership for $30 out the door. I think more people need to hear about this in the Raleigh NC area. I love Monro before but with this Mike Haller character. I would have to think twice to take my car there again.

In response to Mr. David. I am writing this rebuttal because i am the store manager. First I would like to state that Mr. David did not give all the fax when he wrote his complaint. I would like to stress he was complaining about the price because in his prior times in the shop. The old managers never charged for any extra quarts of oil. Which if you ask any other shop no matter who they are all oil changes are upto 5 quarts of oil. His vehicle requires 6 quarts of oil to fill the crankcase. Second all shops inventory are never 100% correct, so when you have to out sorce any items you carry there is a slight price increase. Third he stated this (He got the nerve and demanded that I paid the bill or else hell just put my old oil filter and the old oil back in. ). Which incorrect. He was refusing to pay for his oil change and i asked him what did he want me to do. and i said would you like me to put you old oil filter and oil back into the car?? Forth he states this ( I was amaze that he try to slam me with additional extra charges too. $2.25 recycle fee, $3 for extra qt oil, $2.16 shop fee $3.00 for oil filter) you ask any repair shop that does oil changes and they will tell you that there is an oil disposal fee and if your vehicle takes more then the 5 quarts of oil the customer will be charged extra for it, the shop fee is also charged by all repair shops, some show the charge others try to hide it. Also i would like to state that Mr. David failed to mention the regular price would have been $ 37.00 but i gave him a break since the stores inventory was incorrect.

i would like to say first and formost, i use the monro muffler brakes and serice in raliegh, nc all the time. i never had a problem with the store manager or any of his employees. i would like to state that there are times when i was quoted a price it was always what the manager said it was when he and his staff checked my car out. he has always been friendly not only to me but to my husband and my son. i highly recommend this shop to anyone who asks.
