Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My father had an exhaust leak on his 97 Lincoln town car so he brought it to monro to have it fixed. They told him it was no big deal, his flanges connecting the cat. Converter were bad and he could go one of two ways, they could weld it for 170 dollars or it would cost him 1200 dollars a side to replace the pipe from the cat. Converter forward. He's on a fixed income so asked if they could actually fix it by welding it. They said yes. He doesn't go out of the city that often but noticed the car had no pick up and go. He's the kind of person that doesn't like confrontations so while he was deciding what to do we had a family picnic to go to the next weekend and asked if I would drive it out to see what I thought.

We were probably 5-7 miles out of the city when a strange smell started emminating from the vents of the car. Within a minute the car was filled with smoke and I pulled over immediately only to see flames at my feet!!!luckily had a bottle of water and was able to put it out. we got the car back to the house and I went and looked underneath the car and noticed that the converters were tight up against the car and the exhaust was hanging in the back. When I asked my father if he was told about the heat Sheila's being removed from the converters he said they said the car was good to go. Brought the car to the shop and they first told me the hangers were rotted away and the cadylatic converters were bad.

When I asked them if they told my father that there reply was " that's not what he brought it in for". I told them the exhaust never rattled like that before he went there and if the converters were bad how come they took the heat shields off?so I called corporate and they said they were sending an adjuster out and it would be best if I left the car there,so I did. But not before taking a couple pics of the exhaust and writing the mileage down. ( had a very bad experience when I was younger with an auto body shop that was driving my car after hours)so a week goes by with me calling everyday to hear the same thing. They'll b here today or tomorrow. After a week of this I went and picked the car up.

I wasn't home two hours when a guy from travelers insurance called and wanted to arrange a time to look at it. I told him the car was there for the past week waiting for him. Just one problem, they didn't call him till after I picked the car back up!!!!when the travelers insurance guy came they wouldn't let me be present and the insurance guy said he would call me.so I get a phone call two days later from the insurance guys boss telling me it wasn't Monroe's fault because the hole in my floor is what started the fire!!!!!!!!!!!i told the first insurance guy that's the hole was caused by the car catching fire to which he had no reply. So then I told him if he went to the passengers side you could see where the same thing was happening under that converter but it s far enough away not touching anything to set on fire. Those guys at Monroe tried saying his floorboards were rotted and that caused the fire.

Only one problem, the only areas that look rotted are right above the cadylatic converters. You could still see the undercoating everywhere else under the car!!!then I proceeded to tell the second insurance guy that they had the car a week before calling them and that the car had been driven around 80 miles and now there's a scraping noise coming from the rear end. This car has only 149,150 miles on it and has been well taken care of.he said he was going to personally look into the matter and call me back when he does. I will never go to monro again and unless my lawyer has me sighn a gag order as part of a settlement I will be screaming to the heavens not to go to monro muffler ever. Especially if there going to take advantage of our seniors. Shame on you monro.
