Motime Ringtone scam -- you click on it, don't get a download and get charaged 9.99 a month, Internet
I was looking on line for the lyrics to "Slippery People" by the Talking Heads and this site popped up to download it as a ring-tone. I clicked on it, clicked download, but my blackberry didn't have enought charge to stay on so I didn't get the text with the code to enter. I tried again this morning, went through the paces and tried to download the one ringtone I wanted and I got the message that it was too large. I called customer support and they said, essentially, yes, it's too large. So I said OK, that's the only ring tone I wanted so I want to make sure I'm not signed up for a monthly subscription. She said that's fine, but you will be billed $9.99. I asked why, since I was signed up for about 90 seconds, the one thing I wanted they couldn't deliver, and got the same platitudes. I said I would refuse to pay it and would file a complaint and asked to speak to a manager. She then said they'd send me a check in two weeks but the $9.99 was going to show up on my bill. Ludicrous!
