Had received an estimate of $595.00 from Mark Bingham to rebuild a transmission in my Ford Ranger Pick up. this included removal and reinstallation and free towing for the major work.

After they had towed the truck, recieved a call from Mark saying the problem was going to be internal ( Oh really?? no kidding ) and they were taking another $100.00 onto the price. When I inquired as to what the final price for the transmission rebuild and reinstallation, was quoted around $669 and change.

Finally, the only thing wrong with the truck was the clutch plate had broken its shock springs and needed to be replaced. Price Quoted remained the same when I spoke with Mark on the phone.

After arriving to pick up the truck, He then said I had to pay $760 some to put the clutch in the truck ... they did no repair work to the transmission. They also tacked on $50 some to add oil to the transmission ... which it didn't need when I brought it to them.

Was informed they had given me a $100 discount to boot. This means, that to install the clutch, I was charged more than it would have cost to install a rebuilt and certified transmission ... the clutch had to be removed to facilitate the transmission rebuild in any case. This means, including tax, I would have been charged more for the clutch replacement than to have a totally rebuilt transmission installed. Other places are offering better prices at lower cost ... with no hidden charges or surprises.

Before posting this Report ... I discovered there are many many other reports against this company. I only wish I had gone to the net and looked first ... AAMCO is better and cheaper ... and has fewer complaints.

I only hope that the clutch they used wasn't inferior as well as being over charged .
