At the August 2010 ASD Expo in Las Vegas, I spoke with Jamie Flores, the Office Manager and Director of Sales for MyLeather.com AKA LeatherUp.com. I was looking at a leather vest, the very same type and style that is worn by Vietnam Veterans groups.

The vest had a price tag of $4.50. I thought that was amazingly low! Mr. Flores said that was the "Show Price", that the minimum was 20 pieces of any size or style (2 - patchwork or plain), but the "After Show" price was $ 5.80 each. I told him that my Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter may want to buy at least the minimum and probably more at that price he quoted me. Mr. Flores handed me his business card, where upon I wrote those prices he told me, on the back of his card, along with the minimum order amount.

A few days after the show ended, I looked up their website and noticed their minimum order was $ 300 and the vests at near $ 20 dollars. Hmmmm. . .  what's the story, here?

Usually at trade shows many companies provide special attendee pricing for prospect commercial and organizational accounts, so I sent him an email telling him of the interest to place a first order at the prices he QUOTED me. Here is the response (excerpts) of Mr. Flores, directly from his emails to me (I have a copy of every email between him and myself for legal purposes):

"These are leather vests there is no way I quoted those prices in fact I do not sell anything in the booth for that price. Must be a different booth. if you are interested they are $19.50."

"At the prices you are saying I might as well give them to you for free. No I do not want the business because I cannot provide those prices on a leather vest. Also our pre packs come in 24 pcs why would I say 20 and last our minimum order is $300 at $5.80 that does not add up. I think you are very confused on the booth and it's prices."

Apparently it is standard procedure for many "Well known" companies to conduct business using Bait & Switch, Cheating and Deception. I also discovered the Better Business Bureau has given that company a very low rating!

While attending the August 2010 ASD Expo in Las Vegas, I spoke with Jamie Flores, the Office Manager and Director of Sales for MyLeather.com AKA LeatherUp.com. I was looking at a leather vest, the very same type and style that I wear as a member of a national Vietnam Veteran group.

I told him that my Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter may want to buy at least the minimum and probably more at that price he quoted me. Mr. Flores handed me his business card, where upon I immediately wrote those prices he told me (and I confirmed them with him), on the back of his card along with the minimum order amount.

Either this person is a pathological liar or it is "Business as usual" to cheat customers and prospective customers using deceptive bait and switch tactics. I also discovered the Better Business Bureau had given them a very low rating!
