In April 2009, I got a call from National Merchant Solutions, Inc. and they said they could save me big bucks on my credit card processing fee. Timothy Boyd came to my restaurant and spoke with me.
The stuff he promised was great.
rate - about 1.7% for VISA ans MASTER
no per transaction fees
about $70 monthly equipment rental fee
--> NO contract <--
It took a couple of months to finally get the right equipment I wanted. Meanwhile, i received statements from RBS World Pay, which I thought was a little fishy. When I finally got my first month's statement. The rate was way higher than what he promised.
rate - all together, it was 2.3%
$0.18 per transaction
about $110 monthly equipment rental fee
$10 a month statement fee
I was very upset with this and tried to reason with him. He replies, quote:
"Send me three months of your old processor processing statements and 2 months of ours and I'll get you qualified for one of our new programs, or at least try to.It includes one flat rate...
No tier structure, No trans fee, No batch fee's, No Data breach fee (statement fee is what that is)"
After I sent him the statements. That turned out to be, and I quote:
"Based on the analysis that I gave you and redid again this morning. We are saving you more than your previous processor. Now, what I am willing to do is match any rate that any of our competitors will offer you. So, to make things simpler for you guys and not making you switch again and again send me in the quote that they gave you and I will match it 100%"
Now I'm ready to move on and sign up with Bank of America instead and I get this.
"$495 Early Termination fee And the lease is NON-CANCELLABLE until the end of the 48 month term."
I have noticed I'm the second person who has been scammed by Timothy Boyd. I hope everyone else out there can read this and learn the lesson.
