To answer your why/how can they do this to you question, because they can is probably the best answer. Yep, their method is simple: they buy stale, outdated, invalid debts for cheap & write up demand letters (complete with incorrect info), lick a stamp and mail 'em out in hopes of scaring you into paying them $omething. It's as simple as that. If you read some of the other posts here you'll hopefully realize that you really don't need to worry about them. They're just trying to scare you into sending them money. And then start filing complaints with the FTC & other agencys. ftc.gov Maybe if there are enough complaints we can put these folks out of biz like we did with another wonderful collection agency who specialized in scare tactics: Camco. Yep, took awhile but we did it.
