Last August, A "gentelman" named Jeson walked in my store in Fresno CA. He told us to offer a good deal for credit card terminal service. At the time, our store just opened 3 monthes. We have been looking for a better service. We tried to be careful to sign the contract. But the guy nicely pretended to promise us which we would have six monthes free trail, and if we don't like the service we can cancel the service anytime. We only knew about the service company, he didn't montion anything about that the service company was totally different company from the terminal machine company, also he didn't tell us what was the name of the terminal machine company. Even he let us sign the name on the contract, later he filled up something on the contract which we didn't talk about before.
Four monthes later, we could not stand their service of always being late. So, we decided to terminate the service.
After we faxed the document about cancelling the service. A company called NORTHERN LEASING SYSTEM INC jumped out, they told us we couldn't cancel the machine rental which was charged from our account about $48.00 each month. They said we signed the contract which is nonterminatable, and we have to pay off 4 years contract for the rental that total comes up around $2500.
My husband and I were shocked at first moment.
They called three, four time a day to drive us crazy. We requested this issue from a lawyer. We were told they had some weakness such as misleading and fraud. So we decided to fight. Almostly, We chose to cheat the people just came from other countries not too long. In Fresno, their customers are Armenians, Irans, Laos, Indians, Chinese who the people have too much worries.
Don't care about what do they threaten you whatever lawsuit or ruin your credit. STAND UP by youselves. Fight for your fair. BUT BE SMART AND PATIENT.
Let us tie together to beat the brutal company and their reps down!
If you have same issue to should be handled, tell me please. Especially in Central Valley Area, CA.
If we have more people, we can strongly report them to the State General Attorney.

In October of 05 my parents who own a store in fresno, ca were also scammed by northern leasing, i told them not to pay anything and that we will some how do something about it because they hadn't set up the machines and they were trying to take out $69 out of my dads account. I told him to tell the bank to stop paying them and thats what he did, so the company started to call about 4-5 times a day at the business and on our house phone. They are now sending letters saying that they are going to ruin my dads credit, but I don't know if they will so I have decided to write a letter to the 3 credit bureaus stating what is going on and to ignore anything from northern leasing systems. Linda you are correct about targeting certain nationalities because we are Armenian and my dad didn't really understand what he was signing, he had told me about the company I said "no dad don't deal with them, it doesnt seem right." Unfortanently my dad didn't listen and signed the contract. I am thinking about going to the media to let other small businesses know not to sign any contracts with northern leasing. If you have any ideas or if you know more people with this issue maybe we can open a lawsuit against them.
