I have been working for Ritz Camera in Pennsylvania for six years now (since May, 2002). When I was hired, Ritz was just making a deal to discontinue carrying Olympus cameras. About two years ago (maybe three), we started carrying Olympus again after we began phasing out our Kodak cameras (another brand I would not recommend). Once we began carrying the Olympus cameras, I was not impressed with their quality or even their look or feel. I do not promote them for several reasons. The xD memory usage is incompatible with several other products (digital photo frames in some cases) The cameras do not feel of solid construction unless you purchase one of the water/shockproof cameras (note that these are only good for 5ft of height and 3ft of water) The cameras, in my experience, are sent back for repair much more often than most other models. My best luck has been with Canon (personally and professionally) and Nikon (professionally). Sony and Casio also have solid cameras, as does Panasonic.
