Like so many others here i made the mistake of making an order with tiger direct anticipating some big fat rebates.

problems began with apparently my address was mis-typed (2321 & 2324... how'd i do that with the number above the alpha keys, not the numpad), which lead to a few days of phone tag with tiger direct. to get my credit card to validate.

this delay causes some of my "on hold" order to be back ordered... whoo h*o more delay.

but it did arrive on my doorstep, and it was all nice and shiney (i'm using the computer now!).

now i started going through the task of filling a large number of rebate forms, and left them on hold to make sure everything worked (it did... except the item tiger direct support told me i should add to my order... ha!), after a week or so i go back to onrebate and send that email with a list of all my in progress rebates to me... there's a mistake if i ever saw one 6 copys of one, 3 of another, a couple missing.

so after shorting through that chaff i send my stuff in.

and start getting responses.

a few went through, and a few didn't...

The following manufacturer requirements were not met:

"

Rebated item not listed on invoice.

One of the manufacturer's terms and conditions for rebate eligibility is that the rebate applicant must provide an invoice that shows the rebated item being purchased. Because the rebated item is not listed on the invoice you provided your rebate submission does not comply with the manufacturer's terms and conditions for this rebate offer and therefore, OnRebate.com is contractually obligated to deny your rebate application.

Ordinarily applicants are given only one chance to completely and properly apply and submit for rebate offers however we at OnRebate.com want to help you qualify for this rebate so we've contacted the manufacturer sponsoring this rebate on your behalf and made arrangements with them to allow you to re-apply for this rebate. You can resubmit for this rebate at the following address:

"

i was slightly puzzled by the reason in this email, so i call the phone number provided and that tells me the address i provided and the one on the rebate don't match (remember that fun).... well i guess i should've double checked the copy of my invoice that was emailed to me 2 weeks after tiger direct "fixed it".

hmm... i wonder which the problem actually was, and if submitting stuff with the address on the invoice (not mine) will cause me even more problems.

so i fire off an email...asking what to do, wait a week... nothing, fire off one to tigerdirect... they tell me to send copies of what was sent... i say, "can't they're with onrebate", today the response was

"

Dear Valued Customer:

The rebate instructions on our site say to keep copies of everything you send for yourself.

Thank you for visiting our website. We at Tiger Direct appreciate your business. If you have further inquiries and reply to this email, please make sure to include your entire message, so we can address it appropriately.

"

someday i'm hoping they help me out with this one (before the resubmit deadline perhaps [2wks])

well, after all this fighting it's over. i just received my final rebate deposit. After doing the math all the time I've put into solving this comes to about $2/hr. Don't use tiger direct. if you do expect some hassle, do not under any circumstances expect to receive a rebate without investing an unjust amount time and energy. I'm looking at my fiance wondering why planning a wedding is so much easier than getting a rebate.

so i guess my they didn't make it this time... or some it seems, i was asked to fax a copy of the stuff i had (i don't have a fax), so i asked if just emailing the missing portion of my original submittion would suffice. i was told this would be okay. so i emailed it jan 11... and since then haven't seen/heard a thing. maybe that got lost on the internet?

last week i finally got ahold of someone, who told me to talk to tiger direct about getting an invoice with the proper address on it. after trying 6 times and hearing, "yes that address is on this invoice I'll email it to you", "i can't change the address on the invoice after it's sent", "what?"... i finally got ahold of someone (who checks her email too... much props to her) who wrote up a word doc in the tiger direct letterhead, and emailed it to me... granted it did take a couple of times to get the whole invoice on there, but she checked her email went i responded with "it's missing this.." so i've sent them off, i'm still a little confused about how the resubmittion form still asks for (requires) the original upc... i hope this isn't the case because tiger direct already has it! or even better there's the resubmittion form that doesn't require anything (not even itself!)... the system seems a bit buggy

i called last week from work and talked to some lady at the call center, after 6 minutes on hold. got cut off maybe 2 minutes into our conversation. just called today, get put on hold for what seems like a half hour, then the line went dead. what's the point of having an email/phone number if you don't pay attention to these things?
