Letter Sent to Company 3/25/03

Heres a letter you wont post on your wall! I keep hearing your ads for how much you save customers. In fact, I hear them all night long replaying in my head like I did last night, while I was tossing and turning and waking up every two (2) hours on the mattress I bought from you!

I purchased an entire bed set the last week of November at the New Hope store. (Got it as a present, actually, from someone who really couldnt afford to drop $500 for the garbage its turned out to be!)

Unfortunately, I wish Id taken the 90 night trial of the Sleep Number people. Ive never had such an uncomfortable bed in my life as the one I bought from you! I like a firm mattress because Ive had back trouble, but this thing is so rock hard that half my body falls asleep. Even a foam rubber mattress pad wont mitigate how hard it is!

Of course I have your wonderful warrantysome incomprehensible 12 year deal that covers nothing. No 90 night trials hereIm STUCK!!!!

I went over to the store and talked to the manager, Thom somebody. (I remember it because it was such a weird spelling). He said that I could have you (within 60 days, of course) come and get the mattress and put more padding in it for free. The catch, of course, it cost me $60.00 to have the d**n thing picked up, and no guarantees when Id get it back. Where do I sleep in the meantime, on the floor? (Couldnt be much worse!).

The way I see it, the padding should have been in there to start with, and $60.00well there went my savings. The only thing you can do for me now is come and get this d**n thing and replace it (for free) with a bed I can sleep on. Failing thatspend as much as you like on your ads, and I will spend as much time as I like badmouthing you to anyone who will listen, and many who wont! Ill NEVER do business with you again!!!

I have listened to Mr. Trzcinski's Original Mattress Factory advertisements on the TV and radio and if I treated my customers the way his company treats their customers, I wouldn't have a job. When customers receive a mattress from The Original Mattress Factory, it is kind of like receiving an uncooked pizza (only half finished; thus, unhealthy when it must be re-made. Because they don't explain how they can make your mattress comfortable in the first place, their guarantee is that you'll have to have your new mattress re-done over and over again until it gets comfortable. That is how they operate and make more money! I don't think a charge of $79 to re-do a mattress is cheap when you've had nights of sleeplessness due to an uncomfortable mattress and have had to wait for help from friends and family because you can't afford all the delivery charges. I also think a $40 delivery charge (one-way) is out of line. Most of these problems could be eliminated if The Original Mattress Factory educated their customers on how to purchase a comfortable mattress for their special needs. That should come with the territory.

My guess would be that you didn't lay down on the beds and try them out. If you are a side or stomach sleeper you do not want a bed that is rock hard. Hard beds tend to put pressure on your pressure points, especially in your shoulders and hips. Luckily I had a wonderful salesperson who educated me in buying a mattress and I have been happy ever since. Actually almost everyone I know sleeps on an Original Mattress Factory bed. F.Y.I. I am not sure how the receipts are there but I personally own an Origianl Mattress Factory bed. On the back of my receipt there is a paragraph that reads. "Our goal is to be fair and reasonable. About 99% of our customers are very happy with our products. We do not guarantee comfort, however, to help those customers who are uncomfortable we will change the construction of your mattress for a small charge. We will do this one time, for a period of one year after purchase, providing your bed is in proper sanitary condition. There is little we can do about body inpressions, which is the normal settling of the upholstery layers." The only time you should have to pay the fee is if you bought a less expensive bed and the feel you are trying to obtain is that of a more expensive model or you are paying for pick up and re-delivery of the bed. If you do not find satisfaction try calling the corporate headquarters at (216) 661-8388 or write to: The Original Mattress Factory c/o Ron Trzcinski (President) 4930 State Road Cleveland, Ohio 44134 I hope this helps!!! Good Luck!
