I received an email from Outsourcingroom.com yesterday stating they I had joined their website. I have never even heard from them, nor was I a member of Elance.com, a site they scraped information from. This site even has a profile created for me with my street address and state I live in. They used a screen name I have for a soap forum. They also created a password for me. This makes me wonder what other information they have for me stored somewhere.
I contacted the site using their "Contact Us" feature, so I am hoping they do remove me from their website, which I highly doubt. At the bottom of the email they sent, it said "Do not reply to this email," which to me states that this is a scam.
Their privacy policy even screams "SCAM." On one hand, the terms state "OutsourcingRoom.com does not share any of your personally identifiable or transactional information with any person or entity. No other third party receives your personally identifiable information or other transactional data except for those with whom you have transactions." Further down, the terms state "We may share some or all of your Personal Information with any subsidiaries, joint ventures or other companies under a common control (collectively, "Affiliates")." They contradict themselves.
I want to know how they collected my information.
