Alex MacLaren sometimes alec Maclaren.Also involvement is Allan Canning [email protected] I invested in Deta funds in September 2014 and initially received an investment back in the first quarter. In early 2015 when we were encourgaed to invest more and another payment was received. By September 2015 contact and there were no further payments. Telephone numbers constantly changed and both Alec and Allan promised the short term investments would be returned. They have never been received. In December Alc wrote to say that he was closing Deta funds and all the money would be returned by the end of March.Nothing happened and then offered a staggered payment for the larger investment bu the two short term investments would be paid in full. I was introduced to Alec through what we considered good friends. Alc worked out of my firends estate agency and he and his family took time out to befriend us and we enjoyed their company.Then Alec persuaded us that he could move our UK investments offshore as it would be better for tax purposes and he could offer a higher return. He expalined that the actual lump sums would be covered in cases of bankruptcy andwas fully covered by FSA.
I invested an initial investment and received back a good quarters investment return. In early 2016 he offered us the opportunity to invest in short term segregated accounts and we could pull the money out within a few days. This gave a small return but seems ok but it took many months of constant calls to retrieve it. Finially in september he asked us if we were intrrested in a three week investement secured . Since then we have never treceived a euor back. but plenty of quarterly reports saying how our investments were doing. All paper but no cash back.Thlephone number s and emails un answered and at least 6 different telephone numbers.
I have read earlier reports on his man and can confirm he and his wife Mandy are the same people done by the new of the world in 2005.
The con is get close to people through others who should be friends and over a few weeks both he and his wife get closer hlepful and then tweeking financial questions out of you and bang an investment. They offer a fat return and it is in your account at end of first quarter. Thren more.It is based on greed and gulability of the individaul. You will receive an account through the internet with monthly progress or quarterly and will reflect the world market but you will never see your money again. He has excuses for everything and is always harming.
