First off let me say that I am retired and living on a very limited income. The other day I got a notification of purchase in my Paypal account for $100.00 paid to Paypal Digital Gifts which is internal to Paypal.

I called them and they started a resolution clam. within an hour I got an email of suspicious activity in my account. No kiddding I just called. Two days later I got a notification that the issue was resolved but I needed to go to my account and chane my password etc and my account was locked until I did that. I called and the mail was legitimate so I changed things.

This morning I got an email saying that my money would be returned in 5 days or less. As I said I am on a very limited income and that was grocery money that I now do not have. To add insult to injury I got a $35 overdraft fee.

I called Paypal and told them that I needed the money ASAP and what were they going to do about the overdraft fee ? Basically I was told they could not speed up the process and they did not reimburse overdraft fees. I wonder how many other people got hit with this or other purchases that were internal Paypal purchases.

Cool way to get a few hundred thousand dollars or more for 5 days to collect interest on. In the meantime they got this weeks grocery money and half of the next week... or some bill goes unpaid.

You do realize that the 5 days it takes means that money is still floating around. They dont have access to that money to GET interest. Add on top of that, that the highest interest rate is just under 2%, its not financially feasable for them to hold any cash for interest as there is always a fee of some kind that they get to eat. As interest is accounted MONTHLY and NOT daily. Odds are that your account was compromissed. You FAIL to recognize that there is a system in place and that system is trying to get YOUR stolen money back. They first have to track down WHO got YOUR money, then they have to get YOUR money from them. If they do not have an available balance for them to draw on, then they have to put in a claim against the account, once that claim is approved the money then goes into a form of escrow account while they transfer it to YOUR account. It amazes me that people like yourself can call yourself an adult but NOT figure these issues out. Its pretty much common sense. It takes this long and THEY get zero benifit from it. You must not be a business major or minor.

YOUR account was compromissed. This means that YOU either gave out information that YOU should not have or you feel for a PHISHING scam. Neither of these are THEIR fault. Kinda unfair of YOU to blast THEM for YOUR mistake. Oh Im sure you will respond with the usual "I never make mistakes" BS line that ALL consumers use. But those with even a smidge of knowledge can read your story and see where YOU made a mistake. YOU compromised YOUR account and you got stolen from. Its NOT their fault YOU live on a fixed income. Its NOT their fault that you were stolen from. Its not THEIR fault that you getting stolen from caused you a over draft fee. YOU are just looking for someone with deep enough pockets to make this situation "right" for you. YOU fail to admit YOUR screw up and hold THEM to a higher standard then you hold YOURSELF to. They are using, more then likely a 128 encryption or higher. This means its pretty hard for ANYONE to hack them and those that do get hacked are normally hacked by people that know them. SO you had to give YOUR account information out. This makes it YOUR fault, and they are bending over backwards to accomidate you and your situation.
