I joined with PeoplePC a few months ago and have never really been happy with the service, however it was adequate. Recently, I called to cancel my service because I was going to stop internet service completely. The rep that I spoke with said that he would give me two months free if I stayed, so I figured "Ok". I ended up not really using it and now I've moved.

When I tried to connect at my new home, it told me that my service had been suspended due to non-payment. So I figured, ok, whoops I forgot about it, I'll pay it. The next screen said for me to enter my credit/debit card information, and that the amount to be charged to my card/account would be $10.95. So I figured, ok, I'll pay it, no big deal. Now, three to four days later, my account has been charged $21.90 without my authorization!!

I tried to call PeoplePC yesterday to cancel my service AGAIN and this time she did, however when I asked about a refund, she gave me the run around, stating that I needed a cancellation/confirmation of cancellation number. I tried to explain to her numerous times that the first rep never gave me a cancellation number because I did NOT cancel my account, he gave me two months free to get me to stay. After going around and around about this with her I finally gave up and although I can't afford to, I resigned myself to the fact that I was out $21.90.

However, the more I thought about it the more I realized "Why did they take out $21.90 in the first place?? It was only supposed to be $10.95!" So I decided to call back today and I got another male rep. After explaining the situation to him, he agreed with me on the point that I wouldn't have been given a cancellation number however he didn't know what she had been talking about anyway because they don't have a refund policy. He quoted me from the TOS--No partial or whole refunds. He also explained that the double charge was from the past due amount and the upcoming billing cycle, because the billing date is/was the 18th. So apparently, what PeoplePC did, was they decided that it was ok to wait a couple of days until they could submit one charge for two months of service, the other half of the charge apparently without my permission because when I entered my account info, I gave me authorization for a one time charge of $10.95 to be made to my bank account. The double charge has thus overdrawn my bank account, and I cannot get any help from PeoplePC. Basically what they've done is gone ahead and without my permission for the second $10.95 amount, taken it from my account anyway to ensure that they receive their money, and they don't give two you-know-what's about what it's done to my personal finances.

I am interested in joining in a class action lawsuit, or whatever type of lawsuit it would be, if anyone else is. I believe I read one other member's report saying the same thing. I hope we can all band together and get something done about this atrocity that is allowed to call itself a business. PeoplePC is no business, they are modern-day thieves.
