I put an ad on kijiji on friday July 13, 2012,
I had received an email from a woman who claimed to have 2, 12 week old Basset hound puppies that she wanted to go to good homes.
So naturally I was interested, so I continued having contact with her asking her questions about them.

She had claimed that her son died in an accident (didn't go into details about it), and they were his dogs, so she didn't want to sell them just make sure they went to a good home.
So we agreed I would pay for the transporting fee for the dog which was only $150.00.

On Saturday July 14, 2012 i asked if there was a way to pay the transporting fees in advance so I could receive the dog on the 21 of July. Instead I received an email from the Pet Air ways telling me that once I payed the $150.00 transporting fee they will send the dog to me right away.

My boyfriend and I drove down to a money mart to send the money to them. We thought it was a little strange that it was a name of a person instead of a company but they explained to me that it was a branch director of the company. So we sent the money, and they called me and said "it takes a couple hours to process but if you send a picture of the receipt we can send your puppy right away".

I sent the picture to them and they said "he will be there tomorrow morning at 9:30 am.
At about 6:30 am i received an email from them saying "we encountered a little problem. We wont be able to deliver your puppy today morning, because they are stocked in Regina."

"your puppy has been held in Regina as a result of the bad weather so we have decided to Adopt a well heated/ventilated AC crate so that we could always moderate the temperature of the puppy while on transit." They then list a few reasons as to why its needed.

They then say that theres options to choose from, "non refundable crate rental services cost $400, Crate rental refundable policy (backed by pet insurance) $580, Purchase of the AC crate $880"
I told them I could not afford to put him in this AC crate, and they told me that they would refund me my money for the crate once i received the puppy.

I still tried to explain to them that I could not pay for it and am willing to send the dog without the AC crate and they insisted that I contact the sender of the dog. Of course i did and she was begging me to pay the fee and even offered to pay what I couldnt afford.

I started to get a little curious if this was a scam or not, so i tried asking them "what is the name of your transporting company again?" and the man on the phone did not give me a direct answer, told me to contact the sender of the dog, and then he hung up the phone.

Since 12:00pm of July 15,2012 I have no longer received emails from either person.
