I needed the money and had already invested the time to fill out an application and interview. Then came the "orientation" with the cheesey dude wearing the loud pink shirt and cheap shoes...dyed yellow hair...stupid facial hair...gut...moronic story about how he "did this and that" until HE needed to change jobs and chose KIRBY.
There was a video too. Out of date and STUPID. A bunch of d****es talked about how marverlous and wonderful Kirby was. We had to watch these dorks have a circle-jerk for about half and hour.
To be fair the Kirby IS the best cleaning system around but the f***sticks that peddle them are extortionists.
In my case I needed the money and I believed everything "Phil" told us. He looked me in the eyes and reassured me to my face that everything would be dollar-signs and adventure. I had no reason to believe otherwise.
Instead it was me riding around the backwoods of Oklahoma in a van full of mental deficients that talked of nothing other than drugs, titty bars and screwing s****s.
We were supposed to have an "appointment setter" but all she did was sit in the van and (no lie) give h*** or talk about "giving h***" to the other "dealers" and the "team leader" in the van.
Without an appointment setter we were reduced to changing tactics and doing (get this) a "TURN AND BURN" wherein we're instructed to give someone a gift to be let into their house. We were frequently told to LIE and say the demo was only 20 minutes. Bull***...the demo (if done correctly) is about one to two HOURS long.
I made a couple small sales a week which amounted to close to nothing, considering I had invested six days a week on this nonsense.
One week I made one demo short of the "guarantee" and Phil Mahlo paid me NOTHING. I tried to go out one more time but i couldn't wrap my head around selling anything. I ended up leaving my Kirby and "demo kit" and walked away one night without saying a word. Nobody lifted a finger to stop me...even though I was, by Phil's own mouth, a "TOP SELLER".
Yeah, they don't check anyone's background. They don't vary in anything they tell people.
Everything is a script. Everything is a scam to burn you out.

I am an ex employee of Phitoma Quest (Bartlesville Kirby co.) And reading this report about Phil Mahlo, is laughable. I worked for Phil for over two years, starting at the entry level 'dealer' position, and worked my way up the ladder. The Kirby vacuum sales business is not for everyone! That is pretty obvious from the post I read. Phil would give anyone an opportunity to do the position, even though I tried to talk him out of hiring some 'low lifes' that couldn't get a job anywhere else! Once again, my point being made per this complaint.
Phil was a great boss to work for and yes he always paid me what I had coming. The person leaving this post, with their name calling, kind of shows what kind of people Phil sometimes hired! He was very upfront and honest in his interviews and told applicants exactly what we did and that they had certain steps that they had to do for the week to receive their 'guarantee', if they didn't have any sales. BTW, you could make over $1000 per sale if you did what was taught, and not just rode along trying to get something for nothing!
It's so unfortunate that uneducated, ignorant people can use this forum to tell lies about good people and great opportunities, and anyone can come here an believe the verbal garbage on here!!
