Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

After searching online for lab breeders in the midwest I stumbled across pinyan labs on craigslist.  He advertised puppies for 1200, knowing this i called him and asked him if he had any cheaper labs.  He said at the moment he didnt but he told me to call him back in a couple of weeks to see if he had any unsold labs.  I called him back in may 2014 and he told me that he did in fact have a unsold male puppy for 500.00 cash (silver).  I said that i would be there that evening, i showed up to his house in Ankeny.  He had a modest home with a puppy trailer in the driveway.  The puppy was already in the trailer, mind it was may and the temperature was 90 plus degrees that afternoon.  My girlfriend, her son and i played with the puppy for a hour and they fell in love with him.  he had a big gash on his ear, ron said he got that while playing with another puppy and that is why he was so cheap.  We paid the 500.00 and brought him home with us.  He was a great puppy playing with the kids and was very friendly with us.

For the first month he had lose stools, we figured this was because he had a life change  experience moving into a new home and losing his brother and sisters.  The lose stools did not stop, we called ron and he said this was normal for a puppy and would clear up in a month.  This had us concerned so we did a google search of pinyan labs and found out this was not the first puppy to be under weight and have loose stools.  We took him to the vet at 4 months to have a rabies shot and to have him checked out.  At 4 months he wieghed 15 pounds, we feed him two cups of dog food twice a day.  The vet said that he did not appear underweight just a little small for his age.  The vet looked him over and believed that he had demodex (mange) or a food allergy.  they tested him with a skin scrape and tested his poop for parasisites.  They booth came back negative for any parasities.  As a precaution the vet instructed me to give him revolution canine (red) every two weeks for three cycles to make sure they did not miss any parasities.  The vet also gave me RC hypo hydro dog food, this dog food cost 20 a bag and only lasted him one and half weeks.  The vet also said do not give any treats or flavored bones for 12 weeks to see if this helped out.  It did not the loose stools continued for weeks.  We went back to the vet and they told me that he would need to be on prescription dog food that costs double the price.  This was fine and we decided to put him on it, well he did improve a little and the stools became a little harder.  Then one day he found one carrot on the kitchen floor and ate it and he had horrible bloddy diaharaa and we rushed him to the vet.  The vet then explained he has a very senstive stomach and we have to watch everything he does and eats.  he had huge patches of missing hair and his skin was always red and itchty.  He would consistanly chew the hair from his tail and would cause bleeding many times.  We couldnt watch him fall apart like he was, it was heart breaking that this young pupyy had so many issues.  At this point we had to make a decision, he was to much work for this family and with the hair loss and senstive stomach we had to give him up.  When we gave him up he weighed 22.6 pounds, losing hair everywhere and was 6 and half months old.  he was extremely small and underweight.

the next problem we encountered was his disposition.  When we brought him home he warmed up to everyone in the house, he is such a sweet puppy.  He would play with the kids and never become to rough with him, i would have to get on to him sometimes for growling at the boy, they were playing and we thought this was ok.  Now when we started taking him on walks he would start barking and his hair stood up on his back.  He would barked so viciously that people that loved dogs would not come close to him.  He was 10 weeks at this point and we started introducing him to neighboors and strangers.  He never got better he would bark and growl at eveyone the older he got.  I asked the vet about this and she said that he needed to go to puppy school.  He did but they asked us to leave as he would lunge and growl at other dogs.  It came to the point that we could not take him out on a walk or to the park. When i finally took him to give him away the spca had to ask other people to leave the waiting room as they believed that he was vicious.  This hurt my feelings as i knew deep down that he was not vicious and was a good dog at heart.

Not everything about the puppy was bad, he was really good with the kids.  he loved to play fetch with his toy for hours and he loved the water.  he was really good with imediatte family members as well.  Please google pinyan labs and read all the bad reviews about him before making a decision.  WE had to give him away in Oct of 2014 so this is still a problem with this breeder.
