I too bit on what was presented as free equipment for neighborhood advertising. What I did not know at the time was that for the price I pay to Monitronics(who all of a sudden & unknown to me, had my account) I could have bought the equipment from a reputable company and payed them to monitor it.
My city has a company that monitors the home security systems for $25. Thats quite a desparity($44.99) for just monitoring. I've also seen monitoring services for as low as $8.95.
It is my believe that I was lied to about the free equipment and the cost is included in the Monitronic bill. The monitoring service is I believe in the Farmers Branch area and the bill goes to Ill. Hind sight is 20/20 and I will never let another ,door to door, in the door.
