Just like the report I just read it is all true. Its great to have a place where honest people can post warnings about companies such as this to help other homeowners stay away.
Pools By Ben Inc. was sent out to my home via my home warranty company First American Home Warranty. My original problem was my filter was leaking. After only 3 minutes on my property Ben had stated my pump was too big and that is why my filter was leaking. He then told me it was not covered by First American because I the homeowner was at fault, but he was more than happy to sell me a new "energy Efficient" pump and a brand new filter for the great price of $2450.00 installed.
Well after speaking directly with First American they told me in the report Pools By Ben submitted he said I had a 2hp pump which was too big for the filter therefore causing the leak. Not only do I not have a 2hp pump I only have a 1hp pump so that was lie number one but I called the manufacturer of my filter Pentair to see if my pump could cause this leak and they strongly disagreed with Mr. Pools By Bens assesment and clearly stated the leak was caused by normal wear and tear and the pump COULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THE LEAK, that was lie number two.
I demanded a second opinion via First American Home Warranty and the second company came out and found the leak and clearly stated it was a simple repair and would be covered through my home warranty. They then proceed on the same visit to fix the leak within 10 minutes and an oring.
I guess I didn't need that $2450.00 new equipment set after all. This guy is a liar and a thief and should be avoided at all costs! If you have a home warranty with First American demand to have anyone but him on your property.
