Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I requested Precision Door Service to raise a door and slip a cable back on the spool that lifts the door. I was told that I could save $10 because the business was listed in the Yellow Pages and that the service call would be $39.98. The service man came the same day, raised the door, put the cable back on track and re-set the torsion on the one spring. He did not use parts. He performed labor and used pliers and an adjustment tool to fix the problem. He charged $199 to raise the door and $199 for re-setting the tension on the spring, plus $39.98 for service call. He also slipped in a $9.98 fuel surcharge. The total bill came to $434.18 for less than one hours work. The service technician justified the charges by saying that it is very dangerous to work on garage door springs and that I was getting a bargain, because to lift a door would normally cost $399. When I complained about the cost he said: "I don't own the business" and proceeded to give me the usual song and dance about hazards involved in the work and the promptness of service, etc. The company never mentioned fuel surcharges when I set up the service call; did not mention $400 to "lift" a door. Once the man was there, I had little choice as I needed the capability to close your garage for the night. It was a weekend and late in the day. I got stuck with exorbitant charges given the circumstances. The man worked on the door less than one hour. - Months earlier I'd had a spring door replaced, a door serviced, inspection, lubed, etc. The bill in Olympia, WA was just under $200. I expected even less charges, given that no parts were used. The axiom "buyer beware" applies, as there is corporate greed here and unfair business practices to say the least. There is no way to justify charges of $400 an hour by a "low tech" labor technician.

Wow 2 years have gone by since I quit almost and Precision prices have gotten inflated more than Gas Prices! How can one company do that? I can tell you. It's Greed due to the employees are 100% commisioned and can make great money for having no education. The employees can easily make 50k plus without trying and more today due to the prices which have increased since I left. I am sorry Jose had to go through this. If Jose reads this I hope somehow we can get in contact without giving private info (maybe set up a temp email address). I know lots of people in spokane were scammed. It's not fully the employee but the training of how to take someone and "justify it" by scare tactics. I hope Precison goes down for they do not need to be in our market place. Jose to tell you how much you paid the Employee will sicken you. You paid him a minimum of $62 but if he made a certain % of sales that week he could of got as much as $84 for that 45 min to 1hr of work. If it was me there and charged you that it's would of taken me 15min or maybe 20 min max to do that job. However I always gave the customer something for their money. You were defintely taken and don't forget to write harshly to you BBB, Attorney General and so on... Also you need to call and call and call Precision and talk to Kevin Spratt the owner. Let him now you are going to the Papers, the BBB and the Attorney General unless he only charges you the $39.95 service call and the old hourly rate of $89.95 which was also the price to reset the torsion spring. With that was the door Hanging??? If so then pay the service call and NO MORE than $149.95 or 199.95 to reset it all. It is very dangerous and I did see customers who severly injured themselves while I worked there. I had one cust who fell 15 feet and busted their ankles and one who cut their thumb off trying to put up an opener who messed with a spring accidenlty. So pay a Couple hundred at MAX and NO MORE. However fight the standard 89.95hourly rate charge and ask them to Fax you a copy of their price sheet. You have right to see it and we did show it to customers when they asked. Ken
