My son was contacted and attended a meeting about becoming a Primerica representative. He deceided it wasn't what he was interested in doing and told them not to send in the application.

Primerica sent in the application anyway against his request, him not know this happened it overdrew his account and cost him $70 more dollars.

He contacted the company and they said to write a letter requesting the money back, which he did. Guess what? Nothing was returned.

Keep away from Primerica!

Primerica is not a division of Citigroup. Its a wholly owned subsidiary.

Just a reminder................Primerica reps telling anyone primerica is a "DIVISION" of Citigroup are; a.) being deceitful or b.) don't know what they are talking about and show it by confusing a very simple financial concept. Primerica is not a division of Citigroup. Its a wholly owned subsidiary. A consumer might ask whats the difference. The difference is huge. Since primerica is only a subsidiary company CITIGROUP HAS ABSOLUTELY NO LEGAL OBLIGATION WHATSOEVER TOWARD PRIMERICA POLICYHOLDERS. Should primerica ever run into financial difficulties and have a problem paying claims Citigroup can legally turn their back on them and not owe them a penny of an unpaid claim. If primerica was a division of Citigroup then primerica policyholders could legally ask Citigroup for financial relief should primerica ever ran into problems. Citigroup's only obligations to primerica policyholders would be ethical in nature. Since this company paid out $2 billion plus in regulatory fines and class action settlements for its role in deceiving Enron shareholders, I wouldn't hold my breath expecting Citigroup to come to the rescue.

Hmmm That is unfortunate that things like this happen. One thing I would like to stress is that each individual, whether it would be your upline or RVP, is responsible for running their business the way they do. From what I've read, they have done a large amount of unethical practices and should be terminated. I also know they would if the complaint was filed with the company and after Primerica does its own investigation. My career as a PFS Rep I have seen 4 agents in the past 8 months terminated for unethical/uncompliant practices. It was my RVP, who had to let the company know what HIS own downlines were doing were misleading, for the company to terminate them. Of course the RVP told them repeatedly to follow through compliance, not only for the consumers sake, but for their own. Because our office in our area hold high standards through professionalism and integrity, are we growing rapidly. Think of it this way, if this company allows the opportunity to ANYONE, the upside is that EVERYONE has an opportunity to be successful. The downside is because Primerica doesn't only hire super clean records with people with bachelors degrees and X number of experience, will have quite a few people that are dishonest and will take advantage of friends, family, and strangers. Some people will do whatever it takes, honestly or dishonestly to make money, thats a fact. But the big picture stands here. People that don't do the right thing, follow through with rules, treat people as they should be treated, WILL quit this business as well as any other. Those people will do something else, and quit, and something else and quit. Wealthy people who can stay wealthy AND live happily, have the highest level of integrity ever seen. They always do what is right. I've had a few recruits myself, who changed their minds after submitting their IBA's with their $199. "I asked one of them, are you sure this isn't something you can see yourself doing?"He said "No". I gave him no hassle and thanked him for spending time with me the past couple days and immediately called headquarters to cancel and refund the IBA money immediately. Days later he recieved his refund and calls me back to reschedule an appointment with me. He soon became a client, and a month later resubmitted his IBA. If I decided to do the wrong thing by not canceling his IBA, I wouldve gotten a recruit credit, got an extra number on the Primerica competition board, and 1,000 points towards the last San Diego trip Primerica had..but I wouldve lost a friend, a potential client, and a future potential agent. Knowing that to be wealthy, successful, happy, AND stay that way, I have to have integrity. I do disagree with "Sunday Night Phone Blitz", I've heard of other baseshops doing that. Although it maybe compliant in some areas, I personally think its unethical. I mean, I HATE being called by sales people (yes, being a Primerica Rep is a Sales business, but so is being a cashier at a restaurant) at home and at work. I just hang up. I believe in building a relationship with people, talk to them and see if being a client/agent is their best interest. Regardless of them being a client or agent, I respect their decisions. I teach this to my team, in hopes they do and teach this to their own team. I let them know if they don't do it the right way, they won't get a chance to do it the wrong way, end of story. By doing this I know I will build my thriving business on a solid foundation. The Primerica opportunity works, if you do the work necessary (anything worth having will never be easy to get, yes this takes alot, but so are the rewards)and do it right (with integrity), there IS NO REASON you can fail. This is my story and my opinion. Whether you believe what I say is right or wrong, true or false is your own decision. Anyways, I love you all.

AJ again, It appears that my reference comparing franchise costs when opening a business was interpreted by the censors as shilling a particular firm. It has been replaced by (((Franchises))) in my response. My apologies. I used a particular fast food chain as an example of beneficial franchise fees being utilized to ensure marketing and operational success of the franchisee. Just for the record I do not own any fast food firm's and the reference was merely for academic purposes. In hindsight I should have used fictitious names to protect the innocent. Either way I don't want anyone thinking I am shilling anything. Just trying to give some advise to a recent grad. Later, AJ Scottsdale, AZ

I had a bad time with this company too, not so much with financials, because when it came time to make my first payment on my insurance plan that my upline came up with. I closed my accounts, cancelled all my cards, and told my bank that any withdrawals that Primerica tried to make were un-authorized. Primerica had me brain-washed, and I alienated my friends, my family and people I respected every day. I quit, I wont get to much more into my experience, but lets just say that Primerica is extremely deceitful, and many of its agents are unprofessional. Time to wake up and face the music, Primerica is lie. Here are some of the things they said to me. They are a Division of CitiGroup, which is the largest company in the world, if I didn't believe them; I could read Fortune Magazine and check when they print their top 500 companies. (I did read it, in fact I am reading it right now, CitiGroup is number 8 and Wall Mart is number one in this magazine). They always say "Buy term and invest the difference". After a lot of research and investigation I found out that Whole-Life is not the kind of "Evil" and "Destructive" policy that they make it out to be. They always talked about something called "Sunday Night Phone Blitz" which every Sunday Night they got together and called people out of the blue from the phone book, or people's #s that they got from walking around in malls and grocery stores. Then four two hours they call these people, and book appointments, or at least try. Come on, how many legitimate companies call people on a Sunday Night. I only attended this 2 or 3 times. I got tired of making cold calls and then just told my Upline and the RVP that I was too busy on Sunday Nights with other obligations. They would give me hell for it, but that was a small price to pay. When I didn't sign up or plan to go to some event in Atlanta, Georgia (where I would have to foot the bill) I was given almost a daily lecture. I wasn't about to cough up several thousand dollars, I was told "I wasn't serious about becoming financially independent" Anyway, I have been steadily moving up the ranks at the company I work for (I kept this job while working part-time at Primerica) and am now a department Head. I realize now that there is no way to get rich with Primerica; it's all a big scheme. The way to riches is through hard work, determination and education. Just some words of wisdom.

#10Consumer Comment

Hello Pamella, My guess is your son will never see his refund. The Internet is filled with employment and consumer scam complaints relating to this company. Having once been in your son's shoes as a recent grad I do feel for him. The best advice I can give to your son is as follows: 1. Never go with a firm where the interview is a pep rally with other "Applicants" 2. Reputable firms pay for your training and licensing. Having been in the financial services industry for several years I can attest to this. 3. Be wary of any Internet job posting that promises great opportunities with excessive comm. & bonus potential. 4. You should never buy a job. I witnessed Primerica clowns in action. They claim that you will create "entrepreneurial franchise", but think about it. (((Other franchises))) charge a fee for their franchise, but they also do all the marketing for you as well as other valuable services in order to ensure that your operation is successful. Moldy leads from previous reps' family and friends to me fails to constitute adequate marketing services. 5. Once they play the bring in other rep card all I can say is RUN LIKE HELL! Leave don't feel like you're being rude. If a friend brought you remember this, "A friendship can never survive after a multi-level marketing (MLM) presentation". 6. If a job posting shows you the pay it is either a (MLM) scam, or the worst job you will ever have. I have found from personal experience that firm's that post the pay usually cannot find anyone with the qualifications that would put up with the firm's utter dysfunctional org behavior. Therefore they throw out the pay in order to attract the desperate. Good luck with your job search, and perhaps check out Enterprise rental cars Management Training Program. I have never been through it myself but I have heard great things about the program. AJ Scottsdale, AZ sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company your comments on this policy are welcome!
