I worked for promomodels back in August, 2008. They made me sign all kinds of papers and fax them to them, and told me the pay rate was 35$/h (which I thought was a little high, but not that much more than I had made with other companies). I was told not to tell the client that I was new to the agency because the client may not like having a new model being tested with them. The girl who I was in contact with from promomodels was Rachel. She emailed me all of the info for the event and offered to pay me $40/h to be the head model at the event (which meant making sure the other girl did a good job and taking atleast 10 pictures of us with customers at the event.

I filled out all of the forms and sent them in within 3 days after the event (a requirement to ensure i'd be paid). The forms I signed stated that the agency had 3month to be paid by the client, then another 3months to send my payment, since I live in Canada and the agency is in the USA.

After about 3 months had gone by, I tried contacting the agency through email and when I emailed Rachel to ask the status of the payment, I got an auto email reply saying she was no longer with the company. I then went to the website and emailed someone listed on the site. I got another auto email, this time saying they have received my email and will get back to me shortly.

When I didn't receive a reply, I tried calling and got the answering machine. This is when i searched promomodels.com on google and found all of the ripoffreports.  I tried emailing them pretending to be a potential client and I received a reply the next day from the agency!!

After all of this, I went to my original email from Rachel with all of the event contact info and added my contact guy from the client to facebook. I emailed him and told him that promomodels.com is a scam and not to work with them in the past and I explained the whole situation. I knew the client was reputable, but they still emailed me proof that they had paid the agency so I would know they were not trying to scam me.

I have since worked with the client again and been paid.

promomodels.com changes the names of the people who work there and do not answer the phones so you cannot catch them. they also have a fake address on the website. I was owed $300 from this event and was not paid. after seeing all of the other reports about them on here, I research every modeling agency before working for them.
