Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have a credit card account with Providian/Washington Mutual. On September 25th I emailed them to let them know I cancelled an order for CHBA Health Benefits that day and was letting Provian know that if CHBA tried to charge my account after I had cancelled... I do not authorize the charge or the amount of 259.85 the CHBA company wanted to charge on October 3,2006.

I went online to check my credit account to find CHBA charged my card and Providian never blocked it. I called CHBA once again to cancel and emailed Providian to let them know their error and that I wanted my account closed as of October 3. They emailed me back and told me to fax the information to them. So I gathered the information nd faxed it to them.

November 2 I called CHBA again because I didn't trust them, and found out they never cancelled the order... but she assured me that she was cancelling it s we spoke and that I would not get charged on November 3... .she also told me I would not get a refund of the 259.85 from the previous month. I told her that I had reported it to my card because I cancelled a week before my card was to be billed.

On November 9th I check my account to find I was charged 139.95 from CHBA! I forgot to mention they also charged a purchase Finance Charge both months [email protected] and the other was 11.61. I called Providian again and got transferred to a shift leader named Kevin ID#045380 who basically told me they were not doing anything because they consider it a legitimate charge.

Once again I requested my account closed... and I think they might've done that because I could not log in to my account. If you can authorize a charge why can't you cancel it? Why won't your credit company block charges when you notify in advance that you cancelled with a company? Prior to CHBA I was trying to cancel a dial-up internet company named NetStorm.

I emailed, tried to call numerous times and finally faxed them that I wanted to cancel and they hve continually charged the card 14.95 each month for the last 4 months since I began cancelling. Once again Providian ignored my emails and continued to let them charge.

About three years ago I sent a payment of 100.00 to Providian for my account. They cashed it and put on my bill that I only paid 10.00 along with late fees, etc. I went through a huge hassle trying to get them to correct their error. I should've cancelled the card back then.

If you don't like constant errors, fraudulant charges, a company who ignores your requests and complaints... and doesn't back (YOU) the consumer... then my advice is to NEVER do any kind of business with Washington Mutual-Providian. They only want your money and will side with the other Rip-Offs. They lowered my interest rate and for no reason increased it higher- I always paid on time and usually paid the balance each month. RIP-OFFS
