Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I bought an ACER Notebook computer for school a while back, (quite a while back actually). The price was just what I could afford as long as I got the rebate when I was supposed to. I waited 4 weeks, after the rebate form was sent, to find out the status of the rebate. I was told to check online for that info, did that and it wasn't there. Called back, and was told to wait 6 to 8 weeks. I did that too. They (meaning the operator, and the supervisor), said they never received the information.

So I went to the store I bought the computer from to share my little rebate head ache. The store manager was on the phone for about two hours going through the same hell I was going through. The operator stated that the correct rebate form was needed in order to process the rebate, and that he could get the form on line at their web site; where the form was no longer printable, because the rebate had expired; and we should have gone back in time two weeks, before the 8 weeks I had to wait, to know if my rebate was processed, and print out the correct rebate form so I could resubmit the rebate request that I didn't know I was going to have to submit. I'd like to say it was all good now, but it's not!

So now I've checked the website, nothing, and called the rebate center. The operator repeated the same answers over and over. I ever asked if he had a dog (not kidding at all!!!) and repeated the same thing. Spoke to **the supervisor who has no supervisor, who works in a department completely different from the department who receives the rebate forms, (which by the way, is next door to him, and "there is no possible way to contact them" by phone because " they don't have one"), and I would have to resubmit another rebate request form, via fax, with no way of knowing if they received the fax for four weeks.** Now, you'd figure I would have lost my cool, and would be shouting at the top of my lungs, with my toes curled so tight that the tile under my feet cracked, but it (the tile) and I didn't; I remained calm and quite collected. "I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do." he said again. So I said "You are-*(read from the "**" again)* and finished with "You are lying to me on more than two accounts!!! But, the last two are the ones that plain piss me off the most!!!, You are NOT, "sorry" and It's not that there is nothing you can do, but you there is nothing you are willing to do." Then, he said Thank you for calling RadioShack customer service good bye" 'Click'. Will I get my rebate? Who knows? But I will never give that company another cent. DYS 8/19/2008

Forgive the long delay in filing this rebuttal.

It sounds like the associates that you dealt with were not trained properly in comany procedure and history.  Radioshack has not issued its own MIRs since 1998 when the company switched hands.  All Radioshack stores, including the online store, issue rebates direct from the manufacturing companies(ie. Acer.)

This policy helps keep costs to the company low, as internal MIRs represent a smaller capital gain.  If you were not issued your MIR in a timely fashion, 6-8 weeks on average, then the problem is with the manufacturing company of the item you purchased.

Though we try to be as accomodating as possible, big ticket items such as laptops and computers do not represent any monetary gains for the company.  Our sale of accessories and peripherals are what drives our business.

A laptop, such as the one your purchased, is called a Driver - a product that represents little to no capital gain.  The MIRs for Acer computers take on average 4-6 weeks for processing through Acer and then 2 weeks for mailing.  Had it been a smaller item, such as an MIR for a cellular phone, then the rebate is instant at the point of sale.

I hope this helps!
