I won't repeat the whole story. In short, I got their offer in the mail, called, got a "better price" @$498 pp. Then, stumbled upon this site. Needless to say, I immediately called to cancel and asked for a full refund. As soon as I got a run-around, ie. call back tomorrow, etc., I called my credit card company (Visa) and disputed the charge. They are sending me a form in the mail, in the meantime I'm not responsible for the charge. However, I tried contacting RPR customer service again.

After being passed to several "representatives", I spoke to George Norman. I honestly told him that I cancel due to what I read in the Rip-off Report. He assured me that the company addressed the problem and even offered me a 100% satisfaction guarantee letter. Again, I asked for a full refund citing Massachusetts Consumer Protection Laws. I also told him that I've disputed the charge through my Visa.

In the end, he said that the best he can do is to reduce my deposit by $249, which will take 7-10 business days. Funny, it only took them 2 seconds to CHARGE my card. It still leaves me out $250 I'm fairly confident that my credit card will get the money from the RPR, as they are well equiped to deal with fraud and the law is very clear here.

However, on a positive note, nobody was rude to me. George Norman was nothing but curteous and professional throughout our conversation. May be there is still hope for other consumers.

After several failed attempts to get my refund from the RPR, I pretty much gave up and decided to let my credit card company handle it. I filed a complaint with every consumer protection agency I could think of and could do nothing more. However, while visiting this site I read a letter from someone who got her refund by faxing to Dan Lambert, the CEO of RPR, directly. So, I decided to give it a try. I faxed him my complaint on 08/22/04 Today, 9/3/04 I got a very nice letter signed by Gina Johns, stating that she refunded all of my money. I checked with my credit card and indeed I got a full refund on 8/27/04 I guess my experience overall was less traumatic than what other people went through. I would like to thank everyone responsible for creating and contributing to this site. I plan on making a donation to the Rip-Off report to show my appriciation for their help. Also, I wish the best of luck to other unfortunate victims of RPR and hope you'll find my information helpful.

This is an update to my refund situation with Ramada Plaza Resorts. I was still unable to get a full refund despite my repeated requests, however they credited me back half ($249) as promised. They also offered me a major price reduction if I bought the rest of the package, which would have been a fantastic deal had it been offered by a reputable company. Again, I fully expect that my credit card company will refund the rest of the money, as I contested the charge through them. We've been giving them thousands of $$ in business every month for many years. I highly doubt that they would be willing to let their good customers be defrauded by a company with RPR's reputation. I also informed my Visa about RPR's history of posting fraudulent charges at a later date, as I read about it in one of the complaint letters. I must say, at this point for me it's not about the money. I feel the responsibility to prevent it form happenning to people who, unlike myself, can ill afford to be defrauded of their hard earned money. Here's what I've done so far: 1. I filed a consummer complaint report with the Attorney General Office in my state of Massachusetts, requesting that they take action to ban RPR from doing business here, as many other states have done already. 2. I also filed similar complaint with Attorney General of Florida. You can do it on line at www.amber-nicole.com/Ramada I may be wrong about this address as I didn't save it. Just go to www.ConsumerAffairs.com and there will be a link to this site. They actually guarantee you get a full refund. 3.I also contacted Carnival corporate headquarters and informed them that we will be boycotting their company until they force RPR to remove their logo from RPR's solicitation. I plan to do the same with the actual Ramada hotels. After all, the association with those good companies is what gives this scum credibility. PLEASE, MAKE SURE YOU DO THE SAME. IT'S BEEN PROVEN TO WORK IN THE PAST. SEE HOW MUCH RAMADA AND CARNAVAL WILLING TO LOSE BUSINESS OVER RPR. Please, take action no matter how discurraged you are and how much time has passed. Together we CAN stop this scum.
