Rancher's Pride matt horton, scott reed, james tindle Rude, patronizing and insulting when requested them to pick up freezer and meat sold to elderly fixed income parents Harrisburg South Dakota
On 2/6 my elderly fixed income parents were approached by a salesman from Rancher's Pride Meats at their home, they were both outside in the yard. He told them a story about a wrecked truck, meat they are not allowed to sell publicly by the USDA, could they help him out, big sob story. My mom told him repeatedly they didn't need or want any meat, he kept pushing for a sale until he got dad to agree.
Not only did he "throw in" a box each of chicken, pork and seafood but a free freezer too. 6 cases of beef (they actually butcher their own and have a full freezer which they told him) for $2690.00! I arrived at their house after he left unfortunately. They have nowhere to put this freezer, it is currently plugged in in a shed to keep meat frozen. I attempted to call various numbers on 2/7, reached a "corporate" person who gave me a regional managers number who assured me the salesman would call me. According to receipt they have 3 business days to arrange return, refund or whatever. Heard from no one.
2/9, as we have heard from noone and the salesman called dad on 2/6 after he left asking for drivers license number to put on check (before I got there or did any research) and mom and dad are feeling scammed and embarassed they went to the bank and stopped payment on the check.
Now I am getting phone calls from another regional manager leaving a message asking to speak to my dad. I returned the call leaving a message explaining the situation, requesting meat and freezer be picked up, check returned to my parents.
2/10, heard from no one so I again call manager I left message with, he answers, whispering to someone, asks to speak with my dad. I advised him he could talk to me, I have power of attorney to speak for them. He demands paperwork faxed, proof of who I am, basically accused me and whoever else of making my dad stop the check, informing how smart he is, his IQ, questioning my intelligence and IQ, profanity, threats of a sheriff, and calling me a "chick", so on. Repeatedly told him to come and get the meat and freezer. "Not gonna happen" I was told, continued to be awful, coworker heard conversation also. I hung up, he calls back, "I think we got cut off" no, I hung up on you because I am tired of your yelling and rudeness.
Long story slightly short, I informed him dad would be calling him. I spoke with my parents who are now furious, they called the sheriff in their county, turned over a copy of the receipt, and now we wait. They did not get paid, none of the meat has been used, ball's in their court. I am most upset about them targeting elderly people who may not be savvy to what is going on.
