If Your Company Put 10% As Much Effort into Servicing My System as You Do BS'gneither of us would be here Clear this up? You MIGHT be able to clear this up with a formal apology in writing and repurchase the contract you sold to the debt collection agency, and removal of any trace of this debt, as you did so illegally since you violated the terms of the contract. I can guarantee you I won't ever pay it. FACT: My contract included a service warranty whereby you agreed to fix my hardware if anything went wrong during the duration of my contract. There was noting about ADT servicing me after 90 days and I was never told this by the rep. Regardless, my alarm NEVER WORKED, not for the first 90 days or anytime thereafter. Therefore, RANGER AMERICA failed to honor their contractual obligations. You need to take up any arrangements you had about servicing my equipment with ADT-that's between you and them. If in fact that was true, why then did your office stop returning my calls? Why did your office never forward any problems I had to ADT or instruct me to deal with them?? I have all of the paperwork even now (ALL SIGNED DOCUMENTS, INCLUDING LETTERS WRITTEN AND NOTES TAKEN) and there is nothing about ADT assuming responsibility of servicing the equipment. ONCE AGAIN, my alarm NEVER WORKED, not for the first 90 days or anytime thereafter. Therefore, RANGER AMERICA failed to honor their contractual obligations. Don't try to pawn this off on ADT. I signed a contract with Ranger American and one of your salesmen (Andre Johnson). It is a simple case of Bait and Switchsomething the Attorney general is very familiar with. ADT told me stories about your company while you were still affiliated with them. I was told many things in early 2003. I don't need someone to explain to me about the BS trying to justify contracts. I could care less about the wants and needs of a shady company that practices a bait and switch scam. Service contracts are the biggest scam this nation has seen in the past 20 years. And this is a perfect example of that. FACT: My alarm system NEVER worked from the beginning. I called and techs came out a few times, and each time the system still went off randomly and was never fixed, as I only learned a few days later each time. FACT: The Dallas office stopped responding to my calls to fix the system. They pushed me away. I contacted the San Antonio office many times as well. I called the San Antonio office dozens of times and kept getting excuses. Both the Dallas and San Antonio offices are filled with incompetent, lying employees who use the tactic of avoidance hoping I would go away and forget that your company exploited me. And no, I did not initiate cancellation of my contract. I instructed YOUR office as well as ADT that I would no longer pay the monthly fee if I was not going to get service. In other words, I asked them if they were going to fix my system and got no answer then I later stopped payment. I was not provided with any type of remedy whatsoever. I stopped payment after giving your company a chance to fix the problem but it was obvious that your Dallas office chose to hold me to a contract despite the fact that they had not carried out the terms on their end. This was approximately 4 months into the contract. Why would a person sign a 3-year contract and buy over $1500 of extra hardware and stop payment within a few months? The only reason is if THE SYSTEM WAS NOT WORKING AND RANGER AMERICAN REFUSED TO HONOR THEIR PORTION OF THE CONTRACT. I NEVER MOVED AND I STILL LIVE AT THE SAME LOCATION. Even today the system won't work and I have since disconnected it to avoid random late night alarm discharges. I will be filing a class-action lawsuit. I will be drafting a detailed letter to the Attorney General, the FCC and other regulatory authorities. I will be suing for damages from higher financing, higher insurance fees and other damages as well. I am also investigating the legality of your company falsely selling my contract to a third party vendor, claiming it has a monetary value, because it does not since you neglected to service your end of the contract. According to my counsel, your company could also be charged with securities fraud since you sold the invalid contract to a third party when your lack of service invalidated it. To screw someone over as your company has me was a very bad decision, as I am determined to ensure your company loses substantial revenues as I continue to disseminate my story until the day I die. You might want to inform the local office to expect a visit from one of the investigative news reporting teams as well.

Mike, I am sorry to hear about your experience. I'll try to address things in the order you wrote them. First, every account manager I know talks about add-on's, INCLUDING cell back-up to protect against cut phone lines. Most consumers choose not to afford themselves of this added security because of the $199 unit cost, and the additional monthly investment of $6. So, phone lines are not an issue if you don't want them to be. The reason that ADT speaks in such an unprofessional manner about us is that we broke away from being their largest national dealer. They are now hurting for the residential business which we did more of than they did on their own. We dissolved our relationship due to slow response times on break-in's reported by customers and the fact that they were deliberately undermining our ability to properly service customers. ADT only allowed us to service the equipment for the first 90 days then they assumed responsibility for service. As to monitoring problems...that is all on ADT, Ranger American is NOT the monitoring company. Yes, if you initiated the cancellation of the contract, you are responsible for the balance. The sad thing is that ADT did not tell you that they were responsible for servicing it and that you did not read the contract regarding that provision. BTW, our customer service rating is far and away higher than ADT's. We are now merged with Guardian Protection Service, the worlds largest privately owned security company. In fact they have been awarded monitoring center of the year, something ADT will never rate. As to a contract, every security company will require one, and there are over 13,000 in the US. The reason being that it allows for financial forcasting and stability as well as recouping the investment we put into new homes. The builders do not get "kickbacks", they simply get a discounted rate for the systems and we recoup it through monitoring agreements. Our equipment is not "crappy", if you feel that is the case, please tell me as compared to wich other brand and why. I am sure you have thoroughly researched the matter. That is my two cent's worth, good luck with your endeavors. BTW, is it Steve or Mike? It shows submitted by Steve, and signed by Mike....
