We listed our timeshare with Realty Trade in March 09. We were assured that it would sell quickly and if not that in 6 months, if we did not receive a "legitimate offer" then our money would be refunded to us. We called Realty Trade every single month and every month they would tell us that they had potential buys, buyers waiting to be approved or people looking at our listing. When they would tell us that they had people waiting to be approved we would call more often and they would tell us we would receive the offer via email. We did receive a supposed offer via email, actually 2 supposed offers. But it was up to us to contact the potential buyer to complete sell. We were ok with that, we just wanted to be rid of the timeshare. But to our surprise, when we tried to contact each "legitimate offer" we were never able to get in touch with them and never, not one time received a response back from them. So, we called Realty Trade. We were advised that one of the potential buyers had decided that financially they couldn't do it and the other they said they were unable to contact them as well. So, should these be considered "legitimate offers". When our 6 months were up, I contacted Realty Trade to get a refund and their "Marketing Department" (who you can never talk to) denied the refund and said that we had "legitimate offers". To be honest, how do we know those people were real people and real offers on the timeshare if we never had any contact with them, and the one that decided they couldn't do it financially - is that a legitimate offer? An offer to me would be someone who was seriously interested and followed thru and we had contact with. Since I couldn't get a refund back or talk to "marketing" we had no choice but to list with them another 6 months "for free" according to them. And Surprise - we have not heard from Realty Trade in any way since we "re-listed". I have called them only to be told the same thing - we have people looking at it. I truly believe this is a scam and do not know if there is anything that can be done.

If you have so-o-o many buyers and can sell a used time share so-o-o quickly, why do you need to EXTORT an up front fee instead of working on a commission due and payable which is so definite since you say you will sell it quicky???

Realty Trade is a SLIMEBALL operation. Used time shares are next to impossible to sell! They want an up front fee because THEY KNOW they can't sell the d**n thing.

They don't have the guts to directly address this issue...that's why they submit these canned responses.

The complaints about these SLEAZY, SLIMEBALLS are endless!

Pure, 100% POND SCUM!

Their SMELL will kill.

timeshare advertising refund frustrations

#4Consumer Suggestion

Fri, January 22, 2010

I had the same experience with another company i nFLA. I read on (((Redacted))) about someone with a similar problem. They recommended to file a report with the Florida Dept of Agriculture and Consumer services onlline. the will send you a case # and case manager. or call 1-800-HELP- FLA, then I called the timeshare co and told them what I did and got all kinds of run around of what I didn't do right and how they would advertise for another 6 mos. for free. What they said wasn't even stated in the contract or material I received, and why was it so difficult to get an offer when I got plain emails from them??? Document everything and record converstations if possible. I caught them on a lot of mistakes and asked how come I wasnt told this when I called that time. "I don't know." was all I heard. I stated "why would I do any further business with you if you can't get your program together." I'm still waiting for my refund as I started this mid-December. I had to sign papaers I would retract my complaints...still waiting for check though.
