I would love to get your opinion on how to handle LVNV. I have requested verification a number of times and have yet to receive any sort of communication from them!

A very good post on one of the countries biggest crooks. The statute of limitations in SC is 3 years, but criminal enterprises like these don't care. When they call again don't answer the phone, assuming you have caller ID. Also use Bud Hibbs website. Just type in his name and .com. A good man.

I use to work for Resurgent Capital Services, LVNV Funding isnt even a real company, they just buy bad debt from the orginial creditors (sears, citi, Mci, etc) under LVNV Funding. Once they buy the portfolios and they are put in the system Resurgent takes over and then the debt is placed with 3rd party outside agencies such as northland group. Northland then starts the calling and harrasing.
When you call RCS all they have is the information that was sent to them by the orginial creditors, because they buy them in bulk they dont send everything. When I worked there it was a joke, there was NO paperwork only numbers, generally it is when the account was opened, when it was closed, original amount owed, stupid stuff like that, when a consumer would call or write a letter for validation it was a standered letter with NO info on it. We (employees) were not allowed to tell the consumer everything. Most of the time we were told to give them the outside agency number for them to call, if the consumer wanted to dispute the acct, we had to tell the consumer to have a police report or something that showed ID Theft.
Needless to say I worked there for 2 years only because I needed the job but I know for a fact that there are alot of laws being broke. Ex if the outside agency gave you a settlement offer, the offer is only good from anywhere 10-30 days and if its not pd at that time then they will send it back RCS with nonpay, then RCS will send it out to a new outside agency. If anyone has any questions about how the company works feel free to ask.
