Richard Nye and Ameripos guaranteed terminals for 5 years noting that services such as finding locations and customer service came with the franchise fees.

Reconnex - an ability to reconnect a person who has lost phone service was not even available for sale in the state of Illinois where the product was purchased. I have now discovered that Ameripos used individuals to give testimonials offering said individuals discounts on the terminals they bought if they would properly promote additional sales. I've had problems with phone cards that didn't work properly and have gotten no recourse from the company even after mailing them a letter. I wound up having to find 3 of my five locations contrary to Ameripos claims of finding locations.

One of the locations they offered to me was with a merchant that had a terrible credit rating and was unreliable. The terminals are sold with the thought that one can also use them for credit card sales, however, Ameripos really has nothing to do with this except to refer one to a phone number of a company that does set up credit applications. An additional charge of about $200 is required to set up the terminal for credit transactions - this was never noted in the sales pitch - you were told that the terminals could do up to 8800 functions and that this was all inclusive. Contrary to the promotional pieces that one receives and the ads placed on TV, it was difficult for me to actually get a set percentage on what I might get for each credit card transaction.

Data merchant systems even told me at one point that they didn't think there was any commission applicable to the owner of the terminals. This is completely contrary to the promises made by Ameripos. Ameripos sent along a filing from a David Kaplan CPA - however, try to get him take your call now - he's always out. The CPA report along with Ameripos listings on both the BBB and National Better Business Bureaus along with convincing testimonials from other previous owners made their sales pitch very enticing. The terminals cost no more than $250.00 and yet Ameripos charged much more. Part of this cost was noted as the servicing of the account - however, truth be told all of this went through RADIANT the purveyor of the wireless products and the phone cards. It's clear that this was one very well executed scam.

Hi William. I am an "Outside Locator" and I did placements for several Distributors through Amerip.o.s. as strickly "contract labor". I have been placing the Nurit-2085 for almost (2) yrs. now so I am quite familiar with the capabilities of this terminal. Yes it can do Credit Card Processing if the (RADIANT'S)software is compatible with the c.c. processing co. You would need to print out an "EDC" report and fax it to RADIANT to confirm. Just takes about 10-15 min. for them to confirm. I have never encountered any additional charge for this c.c. service so the $200. extra charge sounds very suspicious to me. And there is no commission paid to the Distr. or the merchant. But it does help to keep your services from being replaced at that location. In fact, when you come across a store who already has a Nurit-2085 or Verifone terminal and is interested in selling the wireless and L.D. services...find out if it is compatible and just use theirs. All you have to do is a new download and that is it! Now you have another location with no "out-of-pocket" expense. And there really is a good bit of business to be done thru these terminals so don't get discouraged. And if it were me I would not convert the terminal to an ATM cash debit terminal. I think there is alot more business in the wireless and L.D. services. Contact me and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have, or give you some of my personal experience sales tips, furnish you with a sales dialogue if you need, posters I have made up or whatever you might need to help you get these terminals placed so you can start making some money. Hang in there!
