Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In Late 2008, we recognized that our financial situation was teetering on getting some relief with our mortgage. We did as responsible borrowers would do... We contacted our lender and asked for help. We were told, sorry, but pay up. So we decided to retain a law firm to help us.

We contacted Rodis Law Group in January of 2009 after hearing an advertisement on the local jazz station, WLOQ. We called Rodis and were quickly speaking with a member of the sales department, Cliff Matigan. Our case was described as Classic Candidates for loan modification and after putting us on hold while they "ran the numbers" assured us that they would take the case and could help.

We paid the seemingly high $3500, knowing that we needed the aggressive assistance that we were promised. We sent all documents necessary to start the case (and the $$) and waited. Our case was assigned to Barbrett Carr. She's not an attorney, but rather, a Case Manager, Legal Support person.

Updates were non existent, unless I was fortunate enough to get her on the phone. We were told the calls by the lender would stop...they haven't. They don't do forensic analysis..although they say they do. Here's the best part:

We were served with foreclosure papers on 5/18. 4 months after handing over our money, we get foreclosure papers at the front door. I immediately called Barbrett Carr and left a message. I emailed. I faxed a copy of the papers that were served. I left subsequent messages, both on Voicemail and with a receptionist, Melissa. As of June 1st , I have not received a return phone call. Not a return email. NOTHING! I have to file a reponse with the local Clerk of the court by FRIDAY of this week. I don't know what to send... and my attorney won't call me back!

So, 4 months later..we are worse off than we were before. We could have hired a decent attorney (if we could have found one). It's criminal...it really is. As if we weren't being hurt enough by our mortgage...we found an attorney who could really salt the wounds. People... don't put your largest asset in the hands of The Rodis Law Group.. You will soon realize that you'd made a grievous error.

Your lack of due dilligence and personal responsibility also plays a part in your troubles

You 1) got into a mortgage you could not afford, 2) you heard a radio ad and made the knee jerk decision to call an attorney.

You entered into a valid legal contract.  Do you think that an attorney can take care of anything that is unfair in life?  An attorney cannot recover milk spilled.  Its already happened.

What can any attorney do to a valid binding legal contract?

Sure it was not right for the Rodis Group to take your money in fact they should have refunded your money when they knew they could not do anything.

I think your own lack of personal responsibility and your pay $$ and point and click efforts at solving problems are a part in this.

You are paying a penalty for your own lack of responsibility like a drug user pays for his mistakes.

Look even a decent attorney can't do anything if the mortgage company does not believe you are a candidate for mortgage modification.  A decent attorney however would not take money for services not delivered.

Under the law the lenders have absolutely no obligation to change the terms of your loan.
