In September of 1998, I purchased a living room set from The Roomstore and, on the advice of the sales associate (Allan Ghodsi-Ardebi), purchased a fabric protector warranty for $147. What made me agree to it was the sales associate's promise that if I didn't make a claim within 5 years, I would be REFUNDED the full amount (issued as a store credit).

Well, here we are in October 2003, and suddenly, The Roomstore has no idea about this warranty. They say it began in 2001 and will not honor my claim. I advised them that I NEVER would have purchased the $147 warranty (money out the window!) without that guarantee. They said, "Sorry".

I called the Regional Sales Office and spoke with Lisa Edmunds (1-240-456-2201) who said that she would not be able to refund that money and that it's just too bad. I asked her whether it was worth $147 to lose a long time customer who had plans to make other purchases. She said, "I guess so, since I can't refund it."

I have alerted the Better Business Bureau, the local Chamber of Commerce, friends and family and will take this message to anyone else who will listen.

The Roomstore's fabric protector warranty is a sham. It isn't a warranty because they don't honor it. Consider it money out the window and into the pockets of a business that doesn't care about its customers.

Customer service? No way. The customer's always right? Not a chance.
