I had occasion to track down Universal Furniture International, a sister company to Sampson International, today and found the representatives with whom I spoke both helpful and gracious.
In 2004 I purchased two Broodmore Westin double bookcases manufactured by a subsidiary of this company and sold by Costco. Nearly ten years later, I have need to disassemble one of them to move it out of a bedroom and into my daughter's apartment, but I cannot locate the instructions. A Google search provided me with the name of the company that distributed them to Costco (Universal Furniture International).
I called the company and was eventually transferred to a representative who hunted down the information I needed and emailed it to me. It took this person 15-20 minutes to track it down, but she persisted because she knew it was important to me. I was most impressed with her attitude and helpfulness.
As an Executive Member of Costco for many years, I think it would be fair to say that Costco does not make a practice of doing business with shoddy operators or companies that do not back their products. Furthermore, their policy of refunding members' purchases, even after many months in some cases, demonstrates their commitment to customer service.
If the individual filing the complaint had taken up the matter with Costco, I believe he would have had a different outcome.

So this report is really for Samson International, if your product is damaged you can just return it at Costco.
