I have web development company and contract Scott Prendergast to help me out with a project. The scope was defined and delivery date set. He asked for a little bit more money as it was a tight timeframe which we agreed upon. Got off to a quick start within 2 days he had some mockups, and they were approved. Then he went silent for a couple of weeks, and the due date came around and I was looking at the product he developed and it was horrible in terms of not being close to being done, things were there but didn't function and were just sloppy.
He always had something going on, his daughter got a flat tire, there was something else going on during the day. It is clear he is just taking what I tell him and pushing it somewhere offshore. When I asked for the codebase and he said pay me my second payment to release it. He was quick to cash the check but then had excuse after excuse and did not deliver the code base.
When I asked for final scope and completion his response was a joke all he gave me was an email back with what I had said earlier with some things removed. Then I was clear on what I expected in terms of scope which you would think that a developer or project manager would know, but again it was someone else responding just to the line items mentioned in a poor manner.
It excuse after excuse with this guy. Unfortunately I paid the second payment by check so I can not dispute that amount. But seriously considering taking this guy to small claims court. He is fraud that doesn't know what he is doing, not to be trusted.
