I have also had to deal with Erik, and Gary's bull. I was lucky enough to get away from having to work at securitas but the bull they pull there is crazy. Gary will try and screw any one out of a dollar still. He still tells people that they will receive x amount of money if they go to a different client site when he needs help there, only to average out the pay from their actual site with the other job, and Erik doesn't keep one word that comes out of his lying mouth, and both will do everything they can to prevent anyone from getting unemployment even if they lose the client site contract. They are nothing more than liers, and full of BS in the Duluth office.

There is a way to beat Securitas when they harrass and/or illegally terminate you. I am living proof of that. I had worked for them about 9 months when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had to undergo radiation. As soon as I started radiation, I had asked for FMLA so that I could take the radiation without having to worry about whether I would fall ill and have to take time off. I was denied FMLA. I was told that I did not have enough time in to take FMLA and that even when I did have enough time in, they were not sure that they would be able to allow me FMLA. After completing radiation, I asked for FMLA again, since the radiation had made me quite ill for a short period. I was denied again, and was told I had my chance and blew it! They then terminated me for missing 2 days of work due to radiation sickness. I was constantly being intimidated and wrote up by the Site Supervisor, even though I had been a stellar employee until then, even being offered a spot of my own. I immediately filed a complaint with the Alert line and gave them times, incidences, threats, and who made all of the complaints. I had kept a log of everything that was said and done to me, (necessary). I then called an attorney and explained to him what had happened. It took 2 long years, but I was compensated to the tune of over 100 thousand dollars. Securitas lost the battle. They lied to the Arbitrator and got caught, she was a very wise lady. They hid paperwork and lied, and were caught. Never let this company see you sweat, they are like vultures and will do whatever it takes to fire you, whether it be legit or not. Keep a log, this is very important. Do call Alertline and keep up with their responses. Keep up with laws and regulations concerning the security industry and OSHA. Inform yourself.

I read this and my heart aches for the young folks coming up who don't know any better than to go to work for private security companies because they really do give FALSE JOB REFERENCES FROM HELL! You need to go to the local Worksource center or your state employment center and go to one of the resume tweaking sessions that they have there where they will teach you how to deal with a lying employer! I went to work for one private security company in Austin,Texas run by two overgrown boys with an IMMATURITY quotient so bad that they went bankrupt at least twice while I went there but because there is so much money in security FOR THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THE COMPANIES PLUS THE VARIOUS SCAMS THAT CAN BE PULLED ON THE DUMB EMPLOYEES ( I WAS a DUMB employee, worked there several years before I realized what was going on and got the hell out -- with my life!), they did not STAY out of business. Finally, I had to go back and learn a trade and try to rebuild my life. Fortunately, most of the places where i used to work are OUT OF BUSINESS and I had my name REMOVED PERMANENTLY from the PRIVATE SECURITY WEBSITE! There are ways to get OUT of bad employer job references. If you are where you can record one side of the telephone conversation and what you record will stand up in court, you can get someone who has a FAX and a telephone to pretend to be a private employer to contact your former employer and ask for a job reference. It is best if you have an attorney and an investigative paralegal do this and videotape the event as well. The employer is only supposed to tell them when you came to work, when you left, whether you were elgible for rehire and what your job title was. Your people can tell them that if they have any more to say, they can send it on the FAX and then videotape the entire message being sent on the FAX to play back in court later. PLUS IT IS IN WRITING EVEN IF IT IS JUST A FAX. They can then request that they put it in a letter. I WAS BOYCOTTED FROM SOME GREAT LAW ENFORCEMENT JOBS BECAUSE OF THE TWO PUNKS! THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS BUT ARE HAVING PROBLEMS FINDING AND KEEPING QUALIFIED PEOPLE! IT IS TIME THE ENTIRE WORLD KNEW ABOUT THE PRIVATE SECURITY BUSINESS! DO NOT WORK THERE!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT WORK FOR ANY OF THEM!

Tell me about it, I know all about those!! They've been slandering me for the last 6 years to anyone who's asked for a reference! I know what you mean by no security in security, they don't treat anything about their own employees as confidential or information security. Whilst at the same time, they are promoting it as a service. What a complete joke!

Nick , You should contact the NLRB ( National labored relations board). It a federal watch dog branch that watchs for incinidents Like this. For those Employers that say they are EOE, HA!! I have been in this industy for over 10 years. I to have fallin into the same spot you have and I too have ramed a stick up my Ex-Empolyer a*s as well, when my employment was terminated. Because you have six Months to file a compliant against Old pinkerton and you dont pay for a lawyer, so go to the there website and check it out.The security industry is a big suck hole if you work for a large crap company or a Ma & PA company due to not having enough state or Federal Regs. to guide this industry PS For MONKEy in Anywhere, Florida you sound like you want to work for Wackenhut, which is not any better from pinkerton. We senior Protection Officer would call you a suck a*s. Why you say, Because your the type of officer that would sit and kiss the supervisors a*s and steal other officers idea's of how to improve the security sturture/plans reather then go out and do you job and figure it out on your own. inturn when you get your strips there will be no Respect from your lower incumbants as you would say ooops your mangement you can't be a officer!! I fogot one thing, when you call someone and I qoute "What a whiny little woman you are " , "Your a class 3 Security Officer which is the type they put out in guard shacks. You little piss ant" and then you said your from that company. Just to let you know something you just spoke for the company since you are mangement youand the company can be sued for it slander and Defamation of Character. , ( this is my pearsonal opinion ,But I think your a freankin MORON)

What you described is what happens every day in MOST ( but not all) private security contracting companies but I have gota reason for you which might explain why SOME security officers are UNTOUCHABLE and OTHERS are not. True story. I was an officer for one of the security companies in a certain anti-labor union state. There was once a guy who worked for the same company I did and when he LOATHED, HATED people, especially women and minority security officer co-workers. He would slash their tires, smash their headlights and windows of their vehicles, etc.NOTHING WAS DONE. He would also sexually harrass women employees and client employees while he was in UNIFORM and ON THE JOB asking them to engage in S& M activities, etc. and he would curse them on the job to their faces and threaten to kill them.NOTHING WAS DONE. He would also show up for work drunk repeatedly and he got a divorce after he beat his ex-wife up so bad she had to be hospitalized. He later stole a pistol from one of his "friends" at the security company and used it to commit an assault. This time SOMETHING WAS DONE. He went to prison and can't work in private security anymore but there is no doubt in my mind that if there were not very strict laws against hiring him back, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIRED BACK THE DAY HE GOT OUT OF PRISON! He had pulled a pistol on another male security officer co-worker in the security office prior to this incident but NOTHING WAS DONE! Complaints were made but nothing was done. I wondered why. Before this guy went to prison, I went back to my car parked at the security company HQ to some flashlight batteries. I drove up through the alley and I saw with my own two eyes this guy and a high-ranking security company person ( also a male) engaged in close activities in the high-ranking security company person's vehicle with the door open for anyone to view and with the overhead light open. You can guess what happened next... They saw me. From that moment on, the lower ranking guy was given permission to annhilate me and I had to quit after 2 slashed tires and two sets of broken headlights (lenses and all) and went to work elsewhere. The company made no offer to replace them either.( ANY criminal complaint filed against him was dismissed if any cops even showed up to take a report at all). I don't have anything against ANYBODY but when the girlfriend or the boyfriend of the boss gets such preferential treatment, then it should be a sign to GET OUT before you are HARRASSED OUT and given FALSE EMPLOYMENT REFERENCES FROM HELL. So you might want to be careful as to how you get out... But GET OUT ASAP! STAY AWAY FROM PRIVATE CONTRACT SECURITY COMPANIES! DO NOT WORK FOR THEM BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL GET! THEY HAVE ALL OF THE MONEY AND ALL OF THE ATTORNEYS AND ALL OF THE CLOUT (at least this one did)... (Constant refrain, second verse, same as the first) And this is to the officer who was laughing at Nick, YOUR TURN IS COMING TOO! There is NO security in security!

Thank you, K, in Indiana for the response. It is unfortunate you had to endure what you did while with Securitas. Hopefully, you have found better employment. I did originally call the Alertline with my situation, but nothing came of it. I heard from someone later that the Alertline is a front, designed to do nothing. Although I am still job-hunting, I am optimistic I will find an employer with at least a little more honesty than my last one. Take care.

Nick, It is evident that you have not learned to play the corporate game in the contract Security Officer world. Number one, if you were such a great Supervisor than you would have been kept on as an incumbent with the new company when your old company was shitcanned. You toot your horn quite a bit, but it is evident that your not kept in such high regard by the client, Supervisors, etc. What a whiny little woman you are. I hope they do sue you for slander. I know if my name was ever run through the ringer like you have done to your Supervisor's, you would pay the piper. Your a class 3 Security Officer which is the type they put out in guard shacks. You little piss ant. You are not qualified to be a security Supervisor or evan an officer, and I am happy that Securitas had the hind sight to see this when they canned your sorry a*s. Oh, by the way goodluck at Mcdonalds or Wendy's or wherever you go to next. Security Supervisor- HA HA Ha- what a fruitin joke. Loser extroidanaire. Run back home to mommy and daddy now.

I worked in human resources for Securitas for 5 years and unfortunately what you are saying is true. They seem to have a "good ole boys club" going on. I thought this was just something that went on in my area. I saw many times supervisors and branch managers dish out unfair treatment. I too filed complaints and it only made matters worse. I've seen officers who were fired over one screw up sometimes very minor and I've seen officers who were very cozy with management totally ignored for major infractions-i.e. bringing an unauthorized weapon to an unarmed site-a mall! We even had one guy moved from several sites for sleeping, making crude comments to women and smarting off to clients, but he was a good ole boy so they just kept moving him. My point is they do not treat everyone the same across the board. I reported an officer for bringing pornography to the office that i saw and also had a witness, i was told to keep my mouth shut that we could not afford to lose this guy. after that i was written up for computer use, which i agreed was wrong and i signed my write up and went on. a person i was working with was using personal email also to talk with her boyfriend who worked for us and talking on the phone with him for extended periods. i reported it, and they came back on me hard! she was tight with the higher ups, they said they saw nothing wrong with it and to basically keep my mouth shut and mind my own business. Did you call the alert line? Securitas is supposed to provide you with a pocket sized card with the number on it, it's also in your handbook. If you call now, i'm sure it will be ignored. The branch managers always got very upset when someone called the alert line because it went through their boss first and they got in trouble plus had a mountain of paperwork to do, well isn't that their job? I was even asked to lie on incident reports and write ups, which i never did. somehow i dodged that bullett. anyway, they did have to give you a drug test for insurance purposes. i agree they should've let you know the results. you should have gotten a copy of the write up. The same thing happened to me, i was written up for screwing up a clients payroll, I was so upset i left without getting my copy. I proved my manager wrong, that i did not screw up he did, and recieved no apology or removal of that write up from my file. I put up with so much stuff for so long, and the last year that i worked there i was pregnant and had put up with very nasty comments from management about my body and my pregnancy. which i just took, if you say something it makes it worse. just wanted to let you know you are not the only one treated unfairly, many employees of this company are. it must be a training course they provide for higher up people in the company. i have met the regional v.p. and the president of the company and they are very nice personable people, if they knew what was going on i wonder what would happen? i could never get alone time with them because my bosses were always right there. I wish you luck in whatever comes next! annonymous in Indiana
