Select Home Warranty A total ripoff of Home Warranty Policies Internet
we signed up for a home warranty insurance plan with Select Home for a promotional price of $375.00 for an annual policy last Jan 2014.In Dec of 2014 we had a problem with out furnace.We reported the problem to Select who then said they would have an independent contractor contact us.They never did so we called the contractor and they indicated Select never paid them for past work.
Select Home Warranty also said we did not sign all 6 pages of the insurance coverage which we had submitted in Jan of 2013 for the coverage. We found out later that in very small print they can claim we did not keep our furnace in good condition and therefor deny any claim over $125.00. The condition of our furnace was always maintained. Things break and thats why we have insurance.
We then contacted Select again. They sent us another contractor who was paid $45.00 by us to come and view the furnace.He said Select would not approve anything for 48 hours.He also indicated that Select owed him for past due billing.
Select emailed us and said we needed to call them. We did. They informed us our furnace was too old and because we did not have any past maintenence files on the unit they would only pay $125.00. We would also have to pay the entire bill when the service person finished the job and then submit the bill to Select to get up to $125.00 after a review committee looked it over.
Only a total fool would follow these instructions.
As Select said we did not sign all 6 pages in Jan of 2014 we should then get back our total $375.00 as the policy was not valid for us and them.They now say Oh the policy even though you did not sign all the pages is still a valid policy and we will not get anything back what so ever
This company is a total scam
Do not get insurance from these people.They are willing to accept your payment then deny any claim.
