Select Home Warranty Deceptive Company MahWah New Jersey
This company is deceptive and uses deceptive advertising and sales practices. I bought a home warranty and prepaid for three years. My Whirlpool Duet front loading washing machine broke and they sent a technician out who said the repair was more than $1400.00. I was told by the claims department to go out and purchase another. I said I was uncomfortable not having a dollar amount to spend and I again was told to replace with "like kind". We purchased another Whirlpool Duet, which cost $995.00 on sale at Best Buy. That was the cheapest we found out of three stores. I sent the receipts in and was offered $150.00. They said there was rust on the latch. I was beside myself and they said they would get back with me. I received a call four days later and the gentleman was all excited with the good news, they increased the reimbursement to $350.00. I laughed and asked to speak to the man who authorized me tobuy a new washer and was informed that in the policy on the back page the reimbursement amount was capped at $500.00. This is contrary to the sales pitch implying claims would prevent me from losing money on a breakdown. They used deceptive advertising to sell the policy
