I, like alot of individuals was surfing the net looking for singles sites. I had filled out a couple of profiles and came across an ad for over 40's dating. I filled out a very brief questionaire...submitted it and was instantly called by the company! They asked me a bunch of questions to find out if I would "qualify" for their service. After I "qualified", they then wanted to set me up with a confidential in person interview. I drove all the way to Oklahoma City and had my interview.

When I got there I was greeted very warmly, and was asked to fill out a questionaire. It was to help them figure out what kind of person I was I guess. It had alot of personal questions. After I was done with that I was introduced to Josh. He did a detailed interview...then said that I qualify for their service. I was told that they did background checks on the people that belonged to their service. I thought that this great! No more surprises! He did however tell me that he was going to waive the background check on me to save me money. Well heck, I know I have nothing to hide. It makes me wonder how many clients they waived on that background check.

When you go on a blind dates it is nice to know that you are safe...but how safe is it when they are not doing the background checks?

When I signed up, I signed up for twelve introductions. Then they called me soon afterwards and gave me twelve more free. Okay, that sounded okay...who doesn't pass up free? I have been paying for this service for over a year now at almost one hundred dollors a month and still have a year to go.

They don't hold the loan and the payment is taken out of my account automatically. In this little over a years time I have actually met four gentlemen. It has been a few months since they introduced me to anyone. I have called them...they said that they would put me back into circulation or something like that. Whats the deal here...they are getting their money...where are my intoductions? I will be honest and say that they did introduce me to "one" descent match. The company did not promise "love", but they did promise the intros! In my eyes there has been a breach of contract.

I have actually talked with some other clients of this company and they are not very happy with it either! (I wish I had kept their numbers). I also have to mention here that their matches for me did not meet my criteria. What I was looking for and what I got were two very different things.

All I can say in closing is I do not...will not...recommend this dating service.

I have never used this company, nor know anyone who has, so I can not say anything positive or negative. It sounds like a lot of trouble, and a very expensive service to me. I used Match.com, and had a very good experience with it. I met my current g/f from the site, and we have been in a relationship for over a year now. Now I know Match does not use the "background check", but I had the chance to go out on several dates, and with some very smart women. Most of them we would meet in a public place, so therefore, I did not know where they lived, and also they did not have to ride with me. My g/f was the smartest of all, we met at a public place, and instead of a date, we agreed to have a 30 minute meeting to get to know each other, and if we felt like there was nothing there, then we could leave with no strings attached. I was a member for a total of 9 months, and it cost me a little over $100 for that whole time, and it was well worth it.

Background Check

From what I have read here, it seems like many of you have been pressured into joining the Single's Station the very night you come in for an "interview." If this is the case, then the response that "Mark" made about their background checks cannot be at all true. It takes at least 2 business days to get a background check done, and the person has to sign a waiver stating that they do not mind if the company does a background check. I know someone who does background checks, and there are solid rules. If they are pressuring you into signing something the very day that they bring you in, then chances are they are not doing the background check. If they don't return money to unsatisfied customer, it is highly doubtful that they return money if the person happens to have a criminal background days later. And what if they have already set that person up on dates. Sometimes it takes 3-5 days to get a background check back! Think about it people. They are not doing what they promise.

I am the corporate controller for the Singles Station. This member did not give her name, but I believe it to be a member named Cindy. Cindy joined our service a little over a year ago. She enrolled for 12 introductions. We matched Cindy three times with the first two weeks of being a member. We did not want her to run through her 12 introducton too fast, so we added 12 additional introductions free of charge. When Cindy joined we waived the charge for her background check. We try to work within our clients budget so we waived the $99 fee. Waiving the fee does not mean that we don't do a background check. We perform a background check on every client. It simply means we did not charge her for it. Cindy has had 13 member approved introductions since joining our service. A member approved introduction means that both parties heard about one another and decided they would like to meet. After both partied have approved, it is up to them to meet. Our records indicate that she has only met four of her 13 member approved introductions. In addition to her 13 member approved introductions, she has had an additional 6 potential matches that she has declined or that have declined to meet her. Three months into her membership, Cindy requested that we inform her potential matches that she has lizards, a snake, a scorpion, a tarantula, a sugar glider, dogs, cats, and birds. Since that time she has had several potential matches decline to meet her due to the number of animals she has. Cindy was on hold for one month in October of 2006 and for more than four months starting in March of 2007. Her 13 member approved introductions have been made in the remaining 11 months. We have certainly provided an adequate number of introductions for the time she has been a member. There certainly has been no breach of contract. I would not expect Cindy to recommend our service at this point. I don't expect any member to recommend us until they have found success through us. I would, however, expect Cindy to talk with us about any issues she is having so we may work with her to correct any shortcomings. A matchmaking service can only provide opportunities. In this case, we have provided 13 opportunities. After the opportunity is provided, it is up to each member to make the most of these opportunities. I will encourage Cindy to call me in our corporate office in Tulsa and I will certainly work with her to help her get the most out of her membership with the Singles Station.
