SMC - Specialty Merchandise Ripoff rep. Wm Smith ripoff , scam, put on hold in customer service for 20 minutes twice..canceled order day before it was confirmed and they took the money out anyway. The only ones who answer their phones is info comercial phone reps. Phoenix For The Sales Reps. And For The Warehouse San Bernadino California & Phoenix and Detroit that I know of
August 4th, 2005-----I saw the info commercial in Michigan and called their 1-800-587-5032 number to recieve their "free information" and spoke with Wm. Smith, "salesman".
He told me that I should order their $39.95 sales kit which gave me a free website( which is only their website with all the wholesale prices on it), and for $9.95 a month for 9 months I could be in business and buy wholesale products and then go out a sell them for profit. I want to do something to earn extra money, since I recently moved to another state and am only working part-time, paycheck to paycheck.
He then asked for my checking account #'s and I gave them to him and told him I would have to have it taken out on payday, August 5th, 2005. He said no problem,"now Janice we will take that out on Friday, no problem and then for the next 9 months we will take out $39.99 to cover the cost of your membership. I said 'What, $39.99, I thought you said $9.99, he said " Oh no, I said $39.99. I told him well I don't think I can do this then.......he proceeded with the sales buyers remose script and told me to go sell alot of products and blah blah blah!!!!!! You know how they talk .....once they have your information etc.
Well, I hung up the phone and went into scam websites including this one and called him back after lunch and try to get ahold of him....he gave me no confimation # , no member # and a Ext. that didn't work......I called back to the info commercial number and talked with another rep. who said he canceled the order the order two hours after I placed it on Thursday.
I went into work 3-11 and two messages were left by Wm Smith to call him back on a direct line.....I did Friday and told him I had already canceled it and he was real upset with me ......gave me the scenerio about how long the company had been in business etc. and then angrily told me when I recieve the box of products and open it up....I said I'm not going to receive it I canceled it.......he said angrily said "Good Luck"! Becuz, he wouldn't tell me but he apparently had submitted the check anyways and knew it but hid it from me. Today, August 8,2005 they took the $39.95 out and so after my rent and bill checks clear I'll have $8.00 to live on for the next two weeks when I'm paid again!
Today, August 8, I tried to call SMC again and was given the run around. I finally got a number and called it to cancel the order and waited another 20 minutes online and she told me It had never been canceled, that they don't cancel orders over the phone......but she would submit it now that it was canceled and won't know for two days if it had been sent out or not....if not I would get a full refund but if it has I would have to pay for shipping / insurance and send it back with a returned receipt, to a different address....they recommend that yah open the box .....no way...I'm sending it back, no way will UPS drop ship it here I won't recieve it.......but I'll never know if it is going back to the right place and I'll be credited it or not....
I think its a crying shame that company's like this have been in business for over 50 years scamming people. We have alot of financial terroist's in this country and people always trying to make us American's think that we are the dumbest people on this earth....rip off the Americans any way they can including the goverment.......I've worked 42 years of my line and I'm sick of this country, order process dept. and she did cancel it but said she has no idea for 24- 48 hrs. if it had been processed or not and if so , ship it back and they will refund me $24.95 minus the shipping....if it hasn't been processed then call her Wednesday and wait twenty minutes I guess and or more and she will know then if it was sent or not.
All,I can say is......like so many people have been ripped off by these people for far more than I , I guess.......they are a scam..Just another Quixtar....buy their products from them and then pay for the shipping and hope nothing is broken when yah get it and then sell the stuff if yah can.........don't yah think our relatives are sick of all these catalog businesses.
Well, how far will my $8 take me today? This country needs to clean up our work force and stop all the Money changers from ripping off the poor and middle class.
