On 3/21/18 we checked into the Chesterfield located at 855 Collins Ave, Miami to discover that our room hygiene was extremely poor. We requested another room and discovered the same concerns. Both rooms had visible microbial growth and strong odors consistent with mold contamination. The air conditioner even had debris inside it when I looked down into it to see where the awful smell was coming from. The bedsheet had a stain on it. There was mildew or urine around the plastic that attached the toilet seat to the toilet. This amount of build-up is a result of poor cleaning. The shower had mold in the grout. This does not form overnight and shows that the shower has not been thoroughly cleaned over a consistent length of time.

When I opened the window for some fresh air, the window almost fell out of the frame. Not only was that shocking enough, there was mold on the window. The air conditioner sits below the window so it is then blowing mold spores throughout the room. The faucet was extremely wobbly and was a cause for concern that it may end up leaking. The bathroom wall had a large amount of chipping paint. This is often the result of water damage that has not been addressed. If an air quality testing was taken in both of the rooms that were offered to us, I have faith that they would fail miserably and that mold would be confirmed. Pictures were taken for documentation.

There was a health concern due to the strong odor associated with mold. Therefore, we choose not to stay at this South Beach Group hotel. We were told to contact a number they provided to receive a refund. The next day we spoke with a representative and sent an email about seeking reimbursement. Since this time, we have sent3 more emails and no one has yet to reach out to us to discuss our refund or the health concerns that were brought to their attention. We have since had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for assistance in getting our money back.

While filing our complaint, we noticed that this hotel management group has 43 customer complaints with the BBB and that they have an F rating. I am not surprised after the customer service we have received. The cleanliness of theSouth Beach Group'sChesterfield property in Miami Beach is a public safety concern. The lack of communication from the representatives is extremely poor. I would not recommend staying at this hotel and question how the other South Beach Group hotels are run.
