SOUTH STAR LENDING GROUP Loan Protection Insurance- Western Union- Loan Docs sent after PAYMENT MADE Auburne Maine; Montreal QC Internet
Please take the time to read! this is EXACTLY the way it happened beginning to end with these SOBs
I looked for loans online and came across this website (http://www.southstarlendinggroup.com/index.html). I filled out the application and it says within 24hrs someone will call with a decision. The following day a gentleman called and he had told me they reviewed my application and based on my credit alone I was not approved. He then said “however, they have approved you based solely on the fact that you have a steady income and you are going through Credit Counselling.” [I then thought] "They would have to check my credit to see that was on there right? Which would be a sign they are legit?" [WRONG] Then he told me I was approved for their Secured Loan. [YIPEE]
He said with the secured loan I have 4 options to get the funds: 1) Use collateral equal to the value of the loan; 2) get a co-signor with property or a small business equal to the value of the loan; 3) Purchase our loan protection insurance which means you pay a one time fee of $690.00 which will protect you if you loose your job, get sick any legitimate reason; 4) Pay 6 months of the loan payments up front.
I chose to go with the 3rd option (paying the one time fee of $690). He then told me that I have the send the money via Western Union sole reason being is that it is the fastest way to send money. He then said once I have sent the money the funds will be released and in my account within 1-2 hours. I told him I was sceptical and he said he has heard that a lot because of using Western Union to send the money and all the scams that are out there. He said that when I go to send the money I call him and he said I will be sending the money to a licensed Broker not just any joe schmo and he will give me their information once I am ready to send the loan as he does not know who will be working that day (guess the broker who will release it). He said they have been around for a long time, they understand the fear I am feeling but to rest assure that everything is fine.
When I called their number it sounds very professional with the professional recording at the beginning. Their website seems professional and has a comment from the President. The website also has directions to their company as well as the rates for parking and where parking is available. It has the hours of operation. All in All the entire site looked legit and when I speak to the people on the phone they seem very professional. I also tried going on Google and searching the following: South Star Lending Group SCAM or Is South Star Lending Group a Legit Lender? Nothing seemed to be coming up negatively about the company.
Then I called and told the "lender" i was still nervous and I was going to wait for the loan documents because apparently they don't send those out until after the loan has been finalized and paid for. Then he told me that he can't guarantee that the brokers would still want to approve me. Now... their phone number is disconnected and the website off and on comes up as "page not found" thank god I didnt give them anything. I guess I was making them nervous.
I even went to the extent to phone another office (completley unrelated to the company) that just happens to rent a space in the same office building and they said they have never heared of these people.... When I confronted South Star Lending Group (JAMES KENNEDY) about it he said "they wont know who we are because we just rent an office space and unless they walked around the building they wouldnt know we were there"
These people have answers for everything and are the scum of the earth PLEASE BEWARE THEY ARE LOSERS!!!
