Mr. Steve Rainey used several ebay accounts w/ paypal to place items up for bid. He found his unsuspecting future accomplices by going on to internet job application postings. He contacted these people about hiring them for a job that required them to open an ebay account, and a paypal account, and let him have access to them, using their "good name."
He then would place items up for bid such as DVD's. Winning bidders would then send their payments to him thru Paypal, Credit Card, Cashier Checks, Money Orders, ect. However, low and behold no one got their merchandise, and very few that used Paypal got reimbursed.

I also found out he is also in the business of selling fraudulent trips, but I have no details on that subject.
I was ripped off by Steve Rainey on Ebay when he was using the Ebay account jessica5857. I sent him a money order for $55.00 U.S.D. I have no DVD collection, no money returned, NOTTA.
Please BEAWARE!!! Steve Rainey!!! Living it up on our Dime!!!
I reported him to the IFCC, Ebay, Paypal, Birmingham Police, Shelby County Sherrif's Department, a local Investigative TV Reporter, Better Business Bureau, Texas Attroney General, and I am looking for more people to inform and complain to!

Persistence pays off. I was finaly able to contact Mr. Steve Rainey himself thru email. I emailed the following address and once I was satisfied that I was speaking with Steve Rainey I sent him a copy of the money order I sent to him, and told him that I had bought an X-Files DVD collection thru jessica5857 on Ebay. I told him that I had not recieved that collection, and inturn had recieved an email that I forwarded to him that said I had been ripped off. Here is his reply. From: [email protected] Date: 03/18/05 12:24:52 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Steve uggghhh...that is not good... We do not have it anymore.....I am not sure what happened.....the DVD's was only a test for our new reps to see which ones could handle the business and it was a total disaster with some of them. I am not even going to pretend to know what happened here. All I can do is refund your money and apologize. Steve From this point on Steve Rainey DID as he stated in the above email. He refunded my money by personal check for the full amount of $55.00 and he apologized. I have since informed people from the email and all the places that I filed a complaint with that Steve Rainey did infact settle our dispute, and refunded my money. I do not know what led to our peaceful, and professional, settlement. Perhaps it was good faith on Mr. Rainey's part, or the fact that I did file with Ebay, IFCC, BBB, Texas Attorney General, and post a thread here at ripoff.com; but for what ever reasons that be I was one of the lucky ones and got my money back. So CHEERES to that. Good Luck to the rest of you. On a personal note to Steve Rainey* Thank you for dealing with me politely, and professionally, and being honest, by quickly refunding my money. I apologize for any negitive publicity that this whole ordeal brought you, however, if feel that if you continue to handle the rest of these people in such the manner as you handled me, that you will recover. Good Luck to You in the Future.
