We found on the internet the above company under the name Straight Delivery Moving and Storage. We got a quote of $1050.00 minus a $50.00 coupon for a total of $1000.00 to deliver our goods from Bayshore NY to Tampa Florida. Our valuables were stored at a storage facility. I had told a gentleman named Nick on the phone that it was a 5X10 storage unit before I was quoted the above price. Our property was picked up on Feb 10th 2007 and after the moving company collected a $450.00 deposit from our daughter that was present at the time to give them access of our storage facility. We were promised a delivery time would be less then 10 days. The actual date of delivery was March 12th on a Saturday, it took 5 weeks to get here and the driver demanded cash or money order only for the sum of $2000.00 before dropping off the goods. We at that point had no choice but to go to the bank on a Saturday to get a cashiers check to allow us to receive our property. Never once we were notified by the company for the additional $1500.00 charge other wise we would have never hired them.

During the five weeks we waited for the delivery we called several times and got different stories as to why our shipping hadn't arrived. One story that the trailer had broken, another that it had been put on the wrong trailer. Nearly every time we called to talk to Nick we would rarely get ever get him on the phone. We would leave a message and be assure he would call us back and would never. This went on for weeks. Once we did speak with him he would assure us it was on its way, yet it never was.

Once the items did arrive the movers insisted on receiving the final payment in either cash or money order when it was agreed upon with Nick that it would be paid by check. After a lengthy argument both parties agreed upon a cashiers check. Once the items were going to be removed from the truck we asked that it be weighted to assure that all items that were weighted at the warehouse and that we were charged for because of the weight were actually there, yet the delivers didn't have one. We had also asked that the items be palleted for easy storage by us here at our home. The items were not palleted and were loose scattered in the moving truck amongst other peoples items. We noticed immediately that we were missing some items (and these were noted on the contract) an oreck vacuum cleaner worth about $800.00 and a rather large bakers rack worth approximately $350.00.

We called the movers several times in the last 4 weeks and were told that the vacuum was found and would be shipped out. Still we haven't received it and when we call and ask for a UPS tracking number or to even talk to Nick we get a "run-around".
