Complaint Review: Sumeer Homes - Irving Texas

I am writing this report hoping that either Sumeer Homes changes their practices OR that other home buyers do not fall victim to the same experience.

I purchased my home in July of 2013. I was told initially that the home would be completed by mid June so I made arrangements to vacate my previous home. The home was not ready until the end of July that was the start of a year's worth of regret so far. When my home was finished it was through much anxiety on my part and a rush on the builders part. had they given me a realistic expectation this would have never occurred. Plus during that time the builder never once contacted me as promised until i contacted the several people at the home office and had to go as far as requesting my money returned before someone contacted me. There were upgrades that I wanted and i wanted that communicated to the builder. We finally met and the builder actually showed me the wrong home then when i saw the correct home they had installed a tub instead of a shower. 

This seems minor but there is so much more...

When i finally moved in the home. The cabinets were not completed underneath, one bathroom cabinet was was damaged, one cabinet did not stained, the front door was put on backwards, and I literally had no ceiling in one of my closets, the part of the roofing fell off, the wood floor had a scratch in it and lastly the outlet in the guest bathroom was sheet rocked over.

Over the last few months after much disappointment in the purchase of my new home most but not all or the items above have been corrected. The last thing that occurred was my windows are allowing water to come in and the wood is damaged with one growing mold. 

I contacted the builder and granted it is 2 months past the year date however clearly the damage has been going on for some time in my guest bedroom so I thought they would honor their work. Apparently the only way to get this company to honor their work is to badger them with phone calls or if the warranty is under someone else they will take care of it like the dead plants that needed to be replaced. Larry with the home warranty spoke with me and told me he had left me a message stating he thought it was the caulking on the window and the damage was mine to deal with. Maybe it is the caulking but no one bothered to look at the work to find out if the window was properly installed or exactly what the issue is causing the damage. He also did not leave me a message stating it was the caulking he just left me a message returning my call. 

For me this was the last straw. The customer service at Sumeer homes with the exception of the sales person has truly been subpar and Larry in the Warranty is extremely rude. I regret having bought from this home builder and would recommend that you buy from a reputable home builder in the future.

It has been over a year and you would think there should be no repairs but my door is still not fixed, the scratch never was fixed on my floor and now my windows are leaking and causing damage.
