In May of 2004, I took my boat to Sun Fun Marine to have a cracked engine block replaced. When I talked to Mike Smith, he informed me that it would be about 10 days to complete the repairs. I also stated that I wanted all of the old parts returned to me. 15 days had passed and I never heard from Sun Fun Marine or Mike Smith.

After 15 days I contacted Sun Fun Marine and they informed me the boat would be ready next week. To make a long story short, I was told the boat would be ready next week over and over and over.

Finally after 45 days and many phone calls the repairs were complete. When I went to pick up the boat, the old engine parts were no where to be found and the interior of the boat had grease stains on the carpet, and the radio plate was missing.

Mike Smith and Sun Fun Marine made no attempts to contact be to inform me of any delays. I was lied to over and over about when the repairs would be complete. The old parts were never returned. I never even received an apology or an explanation about the delays. I very much doubt even if they replaced what they say they replaced.

Sun Fun Marine is a very shady operation and if I were you would never do business with them again.

Job completed in average time and cost. How is this a rip off?

We have replaced cracked motors for over 20 years and until the motor is disassembled to view the damage, completion time may change. We also must depend on outside machine shops for work and cannot control their time. This job did take longer than expected, but we were basing our time on the machine shops quote. The return of parts was requested after completion and the customer asked us to ship the cracked block and heads to his address. We retrieved the very heavy motor castings from the machine shop and had them for "his" pick up at our location. He never picked them up! When we perform any work on a boat, we lay vinyl covering over the carpet to protect against any damage. In conclusion, we feel that any additional damage was not caused by our work, but exsisted before we received this boat. If this boat was so well cared for, how did the engine become cracked from freezing? This damage was caused from neglect and or abuse! No further problems were incounter after completion and the "new owner" has enjoyed the boat till today.
