Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My father has been suffering from dementia for about 5 years.  Last November, Sunbelt Corp., after speaking with my father and determining his state of mind, decided to loan him money at an annual APR of 29.55%; said loan based upon a list of collateral that wouldn't be accepted at a pawn shop.  To wit, a 10 year old vehicle in poor condition, 2 tvs, one dvd player, 50 books and a set of golf clubs at least 30 years old.

My father is 72, has filed bankruptcy twice in the past, is physically unable to work due to bladder cancer, end stage emphysema and the rapidly progressing dementia.  All of these factors have caused his physicians that he can no longer live by himself, that he is not competent to make good decisions and is no longer able to drive any motor vehicle.  Although his physical condition has experienced a decline, his capacity to make good decisions for himself has been compromised for some time now.  There is absolutely no way that the individual who signed my father up for this loan did not realize my father was unable to function at a level in which engaging him in financial transaction would be acceptable, moral or legal.

At the end of the day, my father is destitute and there is no money to repay this loan; the company was contacted to let them know where the vehicle was and my sister was threatened on the phone.  My father demonstrates a great amount of fear, fear that people from this organization will come after him and hurt either himself or other family members if they don't get all the money owed.   I have no idea what these people have said to him; what I do know is that their business practices in terms of how they deal with the elderly and the mentally handicapped needs to be investigated thoroughly.  Additionally, their methodology of assessing collateral for loans, as well as determining the interest rate applied to said loan should be investigated immediately.  To loan a 72 year old man  $3400 for 24 months and the cost of the interest over that time equals over $1500, there is a severe problem, one that I find to be userous and illegal.

Please assist me in causing an investigation into this company and its practices before they hurt, take advantage of, or threaten any more people.
