I recieved a very convincing letter stating that I won a cash prize of $677,519.00 which I would recieve upon receipt of my response. By responding you are asked to send a "processing fee" of $21.95 by check, cash or money order.

Luckily, I found this site the day after a sent my response, so I was able to stop payment on my check before they will recieve it, but I still paid $13.65 to send my response by express mail.

I wouldn't have even believed the letter had I not just entered a drawing with publishers clearinghouse sweepstakes about a month ago. I thought s.i.r.s. was affiliated with publishers clearinghouse.

If you get something like this DO NOT respond, it is a hoax. Now they have the routing number and account number on my husbands check. Lets hope they aren't smart enough to do anything with that.

I'm better off letting s.i.r.s. rip me off for $21.95 than to let my bank rip me off for $25.00.

I just found out from my bank that it will cost me $25.00 to stop payment on my $21.95 check. So basically I'm better off letting s.i.r.s. rip me off for $21.95 than to let my bank rip me off for $25.00. Not only that, but a stop payment is only good for a few months. Then the bank will cash the check. What a bummer...
